Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

It would be a great phone if it worked. I'm on my second one, first one doa with the screen flicker problem (which I think is caused by overheating) and on the second one the GPS doesn't work! Definitely thinking of canceling the contract and waiting for the galaxy S3.

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

I love mine now!

i flashed a new ROM called Android Revolution HD and my battery life has gone through the roof. My phone was on for 42 hours and i still had 17% battery left. In that time it was on i had made loads of calls and used WiFI and internet, and even had a few games and taken 12 phots and recorded a 2 minute video.

It's a lot better than my Desire HD!

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S3 and so far not regretting it.

I was holding out for S3 but since its specs were published, I figured there were no standout advantages that I cared much about. Would have waited for S3 if it came with full hd screen, 2gb ram and non pentile screen.

My experience so far compared with the SGS 2 is that the extra screen and processing power are great, but the UI does sometimes seem slower. However, the battery life is noticeably better with the same usage and apps.

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

I got the one X just after launch day. From day 1, I installed juice defender and the battery life seems to be ok. it lasts me a day before i start getting prompted to charge. Which i wouldn't say is bad, the galaxy S had to be charged every night as did the iphone. considering the bigger screen size and resolution, SLCD being more power hungry than superAMOLED and the retina display I'd say the battery life is on par. But since there is no way to replace the battery easily, when the battery starts to get weaker in 12-18months then its going to be an issue.

Its a good phone, its android, some lags and random restarts are expected but the UI is fairly decent, its minimal compared to the desire HDs and touchwiz. The screen is big, but once you get use to it, you'll hate looking at smaller screens. Its a shame that the phone only comes with 25gb free dropbox storage, as theres no micro-sd slot it would have been nice if htc offered 50gb as samsung has just announced. Syncing pictures directly to dropbox is a nice touch, great for backing up pics which out having to actually hook my phone up to the computer.

On a side note, people power means something. Clearly there are flaws in the handset which should have been addressed prior to mass market release. the poor battery being one of them (although, personally i think the bettery is ok, not perfect), HTC must have realised that an 1800mAh battery would not support the demands of the one X, they sould just develop a 2100mAh battery (R&D get paid for a reason) and offer customers the option to send their devices in and have the bettery replaced to a more powerful one instead.

Wouldn't be surprised if HTC decide to announce a newer phone which very very similar specs but offer a more powerful battery instead. - That would be dreadful for all the one x customers.

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

Well put SS3000.

I upgraded from a DHD, and thought the battery would be better in the OneX, but seems I was wrong.
Very disappointed. Also I have other issues with functionality, which is a pity and I feel rather let down by this. :-(

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

i have the HTC One X (white) for 4 working days now. Given it a good run, and im really not happy with the battery performance. So i have arranged for a return to Vodafone.

Having come from an iPhone 4, maybe my expectations between the battery performance of an iOS and Android are very high, but i see a lot of talk about the HTC One X screen utilising way too much battery. And i suppose im never going to fully experience the tegra 3 so im best off with a different phone. I did test out the HTC One S prior to the HTC One X, so very tempted to go back to that device.....only reason im not inclined to go with the HTC One S is due to the 9.5GB usable storage space. But i do wonder, considering i have stored 10GB of my music/photos/video on my iPhone 16gb...im probably only ever using 3gb of that stuff, so maybe One S 9.5GB and Dropbox is more than enough!

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

coming from a Desire HD i'm more than impressed with the battery, although i have changed the ROM.

On a regular day 2 hours of music play back, 1 hour of calls, 40 minutes of games and about 2 hours of internet. I get about 15 hours. So a full day.

At the weekend when i don;t use it as much (about 50 texts and 3 hour calls) it normally lasts me 2 days. This week i took it off charge when i left work on Friday and then had to give it a little top up (30 minutes) on Sunday and i still had 15% battery left this morning.

Thats better than my Desire HD which i could only jsut make 8 hours :smileysad:

"But you changed the ROM". Wonder how significant that is with regard to power?

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

i think it is probably very significant. The ROM i'm running is built on the newest HTC release yet to hit Vodafone. It looke like HTC have changed their power management and it seems to be working.

Re: So what does everybody think of the HTC One X

HOPEFULLY it will make it to the OneX (Voda). I'm not into "rooting" the phone, "just in case" there is a problem, so will wait for the official fix, and hope it arrives SOON!!

Thanks Walters.
