Hi all.

Just going to reaffirm that this update is OTA(Over the Air) only.

To check if it's available:

Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check now

Before you do this ensure you have a full battery, and preferably connected to WiFi. You can download via a mobile connection, but it will use part of your data allowance in doing so.

I have already successfully downloaded this update to my Sensation, but in most cases the rollout of the update will be staggered, so do not be too alarmed if the update is not yet available for you.

I have the Loan phone from Vodafone and that was the same until i cleaned the cache theres a phew apps that do this or just do a factory reset

I know this update is going to be staggered.  However, it's been about 10 days now and i've still not seen the update.

Are there any estimates of the time period that the roll out is due to take?

I'm just worried it isn't going to turn up and i'm very curious if this is going to solve the random errors i've had since getting the phone on release day.

My phone is currently running software version 1.24.161.1.

There's your problem, you're 3 versions too low to get the OTA.

OTA updates require a certain version to be present to update. In the case of the new 1.45.161.1 you HAVE to be running 1.35.161.1

The ONLY way you're going to get the update is to first flash the 1.27.161.1 RUU (the full ROM, which WILL reset your phone to out-the-box so you will lose your current data unless you back up) and then get the OTA updates in order.

Hi.  Thanks for the info and the link.  It's really appreciated.

Is this the official upgrade path - ie. Will this void my warranty etc?  Or is this the approved vodafone update?  Is this what Vodafone are telling people to do?

Does anyone know why the software version that shipped with my phone when I got it on the day of release (preorder) was not OTA capable?  Was an OTA never released for the software version on my phone (see 2 posts above).

Sorry for all the questions i'm just trying to understand whats happening etc.

It's the only upgrade path you have. Vodafone aren't telling people to do it a they're unlikely to even know the issue exists. The RUU is the official Vodafone ROM and, once running it, you'll get the OTAs as normal. There wasn't an OTA from 1.24 to 1.27 AFAIK so the way I highlighted is your best method

No, as this is the Vodafone update you can flash it as is. As said before, though, it WILL wipe the phone so make sure you backup what you can before hand

Once done you should get the OTA updates assuming the 1.35 one is still being pushed

As it was the first build I don't even know if Vodafone EVER released an OTA from 1.24 to 1.27 - perhaps 1.24 wasn't meant to make it to release?

I seem to remember when I got my phone I had an OTA to do out of the box - can't remember which version it was from and to tho'

(I got my phone in July - I think)
