Re: 2.3.4

right just gone through that and thanks! it works a treat and now on 2.3.4!

first of all to the 1st poster i have experienced the same anomalies as you with the usb turn off button etc - strange! but now on googles direct link as above it is correct yay!

question for who ever may be in the know about this update etc how do i now get rid of clockworkmod? i dont want it on here now i dont know what im doing unless following a guide like this one and just want a normal phone now lol, does anyone have an idea or where i should look? i noticed on my sd card i have a folder called "clockworkmod" which has two sub folders called back up and download, i havent touched them but would deleting these make any difference?

Re: 2.3.4

sorry to double post but i just tried going back into recovery - power off > hold vol - and power > select recovery

and it powered back up to the exclamation mark which suggests ac75 was correct and clockworkmod has now gone? sorry if i sound really dumb!

Re: 2.3.4

Thanks ac75 and Davidwalton for you quick responses. I'll head over the xda forums to see what I can find.

Thanks

or may have jumped the N1 ship for a LG Optimus instead?

You either spend too much time looking at my profile, or are a bloody psychic... yes I have an Optimus 2X with CM7 on now.

But that aside, back to the original stuff, if you have ClockworkMod recovery installed (and are sure it isn't a custom ROM), this update file will still work, but you will have to disable it's assert check as to make it persistant a file (or 2) will have been removed (/system/recovery-from-boot.p & /system/etc/install-recovery.sh).

Re: 2.3.4

Unfortunaltely not a mind-reader (or e-stalker :smileywink:) - picked up on the comment from Android Forums.

How is the Optimus - a noteworthy speed increase? I'm really tempted to jump to this, or the SII or Sensation - but the thought of not having stock anymore puts me off. I suppose being as close to El Goog as possible is comforting to me for some reason and the Nexus S didn't really provide any reason to upgrade from the N1

Happy days!

Re: 2.3.4

It's a nice bit of hardware, the stock software is not great, but I didn't get it for that :smileyvery-happy:

It's definitely quick though, and 1.5GB for apps instead of 200MB is just brilliant.

Re: 2.3.4

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of replying..

Last night I followed ac75's instructions and I am now running 2.3.4... all working perfectly... thanks very much to everyone who replied...

Now we wait for 2.4 (ice cream sandwich) which we should hopefully hear about next week at Google I/O. And being on stock android now with the stock bootloader I will just have it pushed straight to my phone!!

Many thanks again!!

T.
