I got it but I'm part of the HTC Elevate program so got it before everyone else. You can flash it manually if you need to

I upgraded mine. Restarted 10 mins back, so wanted to post first thoughts.
It seems slower and sluggish now. Especially with some apps. The initial load of the Guardian app literally takes 5-6 seconds to load, used to be under a second on the previous version. Alsowhenever I go back to home screen, either Sense reloads, or there is a lag of 1-2 seconds before the home screen loads - RAM may be a resource crunch?
Face recognition I tried once for a laugh, turned it back off as it seems to be quite sensitive to photos (or perhaps just my face)
Twitter TL scrolling is quite jerky. It used to be much smoother earlier. As is scrolling in the browser.
UI is inconsistent. I really don't like the new GMail UI, although the scrolling seems a lot smoother. Perhaps it's just that apps need to be "optimised" to work with ICS although I would imagine any additional work would have been done by now, as ICS has been around for a little while.
Haven't tested (a) battery life and (b) signal strength yet - hopefully these are better...

Would love to give it a try if it didn't fail to install everytime. Keep getting notifications that its ready to install I click install phone reboots and instantly I get the warning triangle and the droid.
Just won't install on mine after about 15 attempts now

For some reason my Sensation is telling me there is no update available! Any ideas how i can get hold of this update?
Ive read your post above Eddieos, but that is for the generic european version is it not? I am after the vodafone branded version as the handset is going in for repair soon! Also means i want to avoid s-offing and rooting!

This ICS update has left my Sensation very slow!
Takes much longer to open Apps and change screen. :-(
Why can't we delete pre loaded apps like Music Shop and Stocks etc? ![]()

Well, I have 4.0. now, and it seems pretty good. Some useful features:-
Now will display a mouse pointer if used with a bluetooth mouse. Works great when plugged into my HDMI dock.
While you can't uninstall the Vodafone foistware, you can now disable it by goin to the app manager in settings. When you select the app you will see there is now a "disable" option. Select this and the app disappears from the Apps drawer and you won't be pestered for updates.
Face unlock? Pretty much a useless gimmick. Fails about 1 in 3, which is too high for regular use.
Web browser now crashes on a number of web sites.
Seems faster, but battery usage is higher.
Bluetooth is glitchy. Will often lock up when switching off, requiring a reboot to get it going again. Having said that, A2DP now works without the lag that was present under Gingerbread, meaning I can now use my BT headset to watch iPlayer and Netflix.

At present there is no official release for Sense 4.0. Should get it eventually though

After a few days use everything seems pretty good in ICS-land. Random thoughts...
- Battery life seems much the same
- Like the new five-button dock at the bottom of each home screen
- The Roboto font works well
- VERY happy that the .wma tagging issue that came in with Froyo has finally been fixed
- Startup and shutdown (with fast boot switched off) appear to be quicker
One thing I haven't tried yet; on my handset, the last update prior to ICS about 5 months ago started an issue when I had auto-sync switched on. The phone just kept syncing, syncing, syncing constantly, causing the battery to die off really quickly and the phone to run hotter than a New iPad on its holidays in Dubai. I'm going to switch auto-sync on when I'm mainly at home over Easter on wi-fi, and see how it goes.
If anyone else is experiencing severe battery drain after any upgrade, you might want to try switching off auto-sync. It's not ideal, but fine as a workaround.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, since the update I haven't yet had the home key = screenshot issue. Which is a very good thing. ![]()
