I have two email accounts on my phone, but I can't figure out how to get each account's icon on the home screen separately on the new Android 4??

Can anyone help please?

Don't think you can unless they're Gmail

Re: Android 4 Email Icons?

No, they are IMAP accounts.
You use to be able to go to shortcuts and tap mail and it would ask which account.
You could therefore have two icons, one for each account.
Now the icon goes straight to desktop and if you try again it puts another mail icon on the desktop with the same account??

Re: Android 4 Email Icons?

You can select the HTC widget to choose which mail account you want it to show however the mail app i believe can not be seperated out, when you go into the app you can select the drop down box at the top and select the relative account that way.
If i have helped please feel free to click on the Thumbs Up below

Re: Android 4 Email Icons?

bswain,

You can still have shortcuts directly to the inbox of your prefered mail account.

Try adding the 'Email Account' widget. When you try to add it you will be asked which account to use and then which folder to open.

Do this for each of your mail accounts and hey presto you have a shortcut for each mail app.

Hi Guys,

I’m pleased to say that I have updated the device that we have in the office this morning and I am now in the process of going through all your questions to help in any way I can.

I have taken a look at this for you and can see that the only way to have the two separate email accounts on the home screen would be to follow the instructions that Nabs has posted.

This will then apply two homes screen widgets for your email accounts and allow easy access by scrolling across the screens.

Cheers Nabs :smileywink:

James,

This is the process I used. -

  1. If you have two mail accounts set up and you want shortcuts directly into the inbox for each follow these instructions.

    1. Open the ‘widgets’ menu

      widget menu.png

    2. Long press on the widget to add it to the home screen

    3. Once added you should get a menu prompting you to choose your account

      choose aqccount.png

    4. Once you choose your account you will be prompted to select which folder you want to shortcut to

      acc2.png

    5. Repeat this for each email account you want to use and you will end up with multiple email shortcuts taking you directly to your chosen folder.

Re: Android 4 Email Icons?

Ah.. htc must have removed the stock mail app and replaced it with their own which obviously doesn't work quite as well then. Sorry.
