DHD 2.3 Update

When is it?

I would have it, if vodafone didn't put all the rubbish extra stuff on.

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

Hi dobbey,

Thanks for posting. I can confirm that we have released the Gingerbread update for the Desire HD today. You'll be able to update by going to Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates > Check Now.

Further discussion on this subject can be found here: Desire HD Gingerbread.

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

Now I have an unbranded Desire HD on Vodafone.. Do I have to wait for the Software to be made available direct from HTC, or will I be getting the update from Vodafone?

Many Thanks

Pete

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

You have to wait for HTC to push it out to your serial number range

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

Hi missymooinc

Thanks for your post here. I'm happy to see that you got your update and everything is working well (with the one exception of course)

So that we know exactly what is happening here, can you tell me exactly what is happening and the steps you have taken to resolve it?

Please include any error messages you get and the steps you are taking to connect.

Let me know and we’ll be happy to help you further

Thanks

Wayne

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

Wayne, me too! Gingerbread has completely trashed wi-fi access to the Internet - including email and connection to Exchange Outlook at work. Lots of folk having this problem with Vodafone DHD gingerbread update, if you look at various forums. Every other wi-fi kit (2 laptops, iPhone, plasma TV etc) in house accessing the wi-fi modem/router and internet just fine. I can even log onto the wi-fi modem/router setup pages OK - but not beyond to the Internet! Have tried deleting DHD from modem/router device list, 'forgetting' modem/router on DHD, then setting everything up afresh. Same problem - Internet pages 'obtainable', 'Network Error' when trying to access/refresh email, 'socket layer' problems with Exchange Sync... Please HELP! I suspect that many other DHD wi-fi users are going to find exactly the same problem.

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

I thought it might be Norton Mobile Security - so completely uninstalled that and 'Restarted' phone. No difference...! Has the update corrupted Internet protocols?

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

Try resetting the Router.

On the back should be a little "pen hole". Use a pen or pencil to press this, hold for 10 seconds and release. Turn your phone off then back on. They both should connect now. Usually an IP range error, rebooting the router usually re-sorts the IP addresses. Rebooting the phone allows it to see the newly reordered range.

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

[ Edited ]

Thanks for the response soupdragon.  :smileyhappy:  I'm aware of all that.  The IP address on the phone is exactly the same as that reported by the wireless modem/router, as is the MAC address.  Why should upgrading the DHD firmware change anything?

As I said, I do have wi-fi access to the modem/router (I can bring up the setup pages in the DHD browser (both the default and Dolphin) - so wi-fi communication with the modem/router is working.  The problem is no access beyond to web-based sources....  That's why I'm thinking in terms of the DHD internet protocols being borked somehow.

As I also said, all other kit accessing the modem/router wirelessly is connecting with the web with no probs.  This is why I think I've narrowed the probs back to the phone.

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

So you've not rebooted the router/phone? Why not give it a try, nothing to lose...

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

OK, update...

I've got it working at last with my home wireless modem/router - but only by mannually assigning a fixed IP address, sub mask, gateway, primary DNS etc.  Obviously no good away from home!!

I'll run it that way for a few hours, then try to get it working with dynamically assigned addresses.

I'll update you after I've tried that.

(maybe Gingerbread trashed the dynamic DNS assignment algoritms?)

Re: HELP! DHD 2.3 Update

OK, erased device from my wi-fi modem/router device list, switched phone back to dynamically assigned IP address...

Wi-fi modem/router sees it, and connection is made (I manually input WEP key) - but no web browsing functionality "Page unobtainable".

Revert back to manually assigned IP address etc - works just fine...

Must be auto DNS protocol borked - as all other devices in house (including iPhone) working just fine.

Hope this helps...

Re: DHD 2.3 Update

If you go to Settings>About phone>Software information what do you have listed as the 'Software version' on your handset?

Hi HenryHonda,

Thanks for letting us know the results of your little bit of investigation there - Can those of you affected give this a go and see how you get on?

As with all the information we get from you all, this has been noted and fed back to help with getting to the bottom of things.
