Hello.
I'm an experienced HTC Sensation user - but clearly not as smart as I thought lol!! I was trying to squeeze a bit more performance out of it and was playing with disabling various options. I thought I'd try disabling wallpaper which I reckoned would leave me a black background. It did! Nothing! Well almost nothing!!
Out came the battery etc etc etc and each time the same result.
Turn it on and it goes straight to a screen just with the notification bar there. It has battery icon, bluetooth, network etc but the rest of the screen is blank. When I phone my phone I can't answer it and in the notification bar it shows the missed call icon.
When I pull down the notification bar I see all the usual things and I can turn them on and off but nothing ever comes up on the main body of the screen and none of the buttons at the bottom of the phone do anything!!
Any ideas anybody???

Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons
If you can’t turn HTC Sensation on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC Sensation.
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
I did it and went to the 'recovery' option and it just hangs with a red exclamation mark over a phone icon!! Not good! Factory reset is also an option so that might be next .... unless anybody has any other ideas!!

More info ...
The option when you do the 'batt out/vol down/power button down' procedure are
FASTBOOT (tried it ... no real progress)
RECOVERY (tried it and it hangs)
FACTORY RESET (last resort)
SIMLOCK ??????? (Locks the simcard???)
IMAGE CRC .... anybody know what this does???????

Fastboot just takes you to fastboot mode (to flash a new ROM)
Recovery doesn't hang - once at the red ! hold volume up and press power to get the menu
Factory Reset - last, and only (in your case), resort
If you wanted a black wallpaper why not just set one as all black?
ROM: 3.14.401.31 (JRO03C)
HBOOT: 1.39.0000 | Recovery: Stock
Radio: 5.1204.162.29 | Kernel: Stock

I thought I had set it to black ... and it was black ... but I'm not actually sure how I did it!! But I still saw a 'wallpaper' when going from Task Manager to the homescreen.
I have App2Sd so most of my apps are on my simcard and I backed the phone up to the simcard a couple of days ago so I assume (?!!) that if I do have to do a factory reset I will be able to 'restore' most of my stuff from the simcard?????
