Re: Now need proof of purchase

I would definitely make a copy and not send the original in -  you never know if they will return it to you!!

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hello,

I am now very very disappointed,  I have this replacement phone here doing absolutely nothing.  When I charged the phone it kept restarting which I thought strange but it just settled down and worked as it should.  I installed the apps I use from "Google Play" and used my Google account to restore my contacts and calendar. Within in 5 mins of finishing the phone just restarted again, when up running all seemed well again. Went to make a call and soon as I hung up the phone restarted again and same with texting.  Done some reading here on the e forum and found that a factory data reset should solve this problem so with great reluctance I went ahead and done just that.  Restored all my contacts and calendar and all was well for about 20 mins when I plugged the phone in to charge then it shut down and wont even start up again.  I am now very angry and very disappointed with this fiasco and dreading sending this bloody phone back for repair.  Need help please.

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hi,

Today I decided to try again with this replacement phone and it worked so I do a factory reset again and left it to see what it would do.  It was not long until it just restarted with the green HTC followed by the VF logo.  I setup my contacts again and tried calling a few contacts and sending a few texts to them and it worked just fine followed by a full shut down and not able to start the phone again unless I removed the battery for a couple of minutes then it would start fine and run for a little while then restart over and over.  I now wish I put up with the half ton of dust under my old phones screen as that was a very stable working phone.

I need help VF please,

Andrew

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hi worf105,

To be honest the only thing that I can suggest at this time would be to send the phone off for another repair however I would recommend doing this through our own repair centre this time so that we have a record of what is going on.

If this still happens after the repair has been completed we would then be able to discuss your issue further.

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hi James,

Late last night I was researching the restart issue further and the factory reset is still the best way to go. Ive done that many time since when I received the phone from VF repair centre with no success, however when I done the hardware reset using volume down and power buttons and the phone since late last night all seems well. Fingers crossed that this issue has now been sorted.

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Phone still working great, without tempting fate looks as if the hard reset worked.

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Worf, glad to hear its fixed. Just to clarify, Vodafones own repair fixed dust, not HTC?
I'm getting mixed messages here, Wayne recommended sending it to HTC, James recommends to send it to Vodafone so they can track what's been done. So who do I listen to?

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hi tinky1, Yes Vodafone fixed the dust issue by replacing my old dust filled mobile with a refurbished unit (well done VF).  I honestly was not expecting VF to do anything about this issue by what I have heard and read but send back my old phone.  It was that reason that I contacted HTC and arranged them to pick up my phone and fix it within one of their service centre. (on their website in the "Troubleshooting Guild",  "mechanical Hardware" select option "Screen" then "Dust" and it will tell you to contact HTC for repair.

If VF is not showing any interest in sorting your phone, I would just send it to HTC for a fix.

Cheers,

worf105

P.S.. Update on restarts with phone:  Last night after a whole day of no problems with restarts and shutdowns I decided to install some of the other apps I use from Google Play.  I decided to install then 2 or 3 at a time and see how stable this phone was.  I installed Google Earth and Google Sky Maps. Moved them from Internal memory to SD card. All OK for about 1/2 hour then a restart.  I removed the both apps and rebooted phone.  All last night and all of today the phone was great no even a hiccup.

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Update:

This phone is going crazy, started to just shut off now where I've to remove the battery to get it going.  8 times in a row within the last hour, LOL :smileysad:  I had to phone HTC to cancel the collection on Wednesday as the dust issue had been fixed but while on the phone with them explained what was happening with restarts and shut down.  Its still going to HTC on Wednesday to resolve these issues, hopefully once and for all (fingers crossed).

Re: Restarts, now wont turn on.

Hi worf105,

I'm sincerely sorry to see you're still not having much joy with this device. Could you keep this thread posted with the result when it comes back directly from HTC? It would be much appreciated and I'd love to see a resolution come from this for you. :smileyhappy:

Cheers, Ben

Re: Phone is back. Still broken..................................

This is ridiculous under One hour after posting that the Phone was back and all looked well this bloody thing kept restarting or just shut down and needed the battery removed just to power it back on.  Done another reset again (x3) and with nothing on this horrible Phone but what is already installed it sat happy for it to charge fully.  Woke this morning to find a dead (battery fully drained) and no life what so ever.  ( I was and am Still very angry with this piece of rubbish).  Put it back on charge and time my break at work came it was fully charged again.  Phone the wife and as soon as I hung up after the call it just restarted.  On my lunch I checked it again and yet again it has restarted (just sitting at the SIM unlock screen)  Took off the SIM unlock and between 1PM and now this paper weight has either restarted or shut down about 10 times.  Now am just furious.

I am off work for a week next week so I am off down the street to see what advice I can get from the good people at the Citizens advice bureau in regards to "Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982" and "Supply of Goods and Services Act 1994" under the descriptions:

  • is not of satisfactory quality. (keeps restarting and powering off)
  • is not fit for purpose.  (keeps restarting, powering off and unable to use device as intended rendering my use of contract unusable)

as nothing seems to be getting done between Vodafone and HTC with this defective unusable mobile phone.

This very disappointed 10+ year Vodafone customer is Totally fed up with keeping sending this Phone back to Vodafone/HTC for repair and getting it back with the exact same problem as it was sent.  All I now want is a New HTC Sensation Z710e in black with no more dust or restart and shut down problems. Please.

Re: Phone is back. Still broken..................................

Hi worf105,

This genuinely isn't the response I was hoping to read. Given the time you've spent trying to get this fixed, would you mind contacting me directly to get this resolved once and for all? I'll be happy to deal with HTC on your behalf. Would you mind emailing my team directly using the instructions I've sent via Private Message? You can find your PM inbox here.

Cheers, Ben
