HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

This looks like an HTC update for Vodafone users - has anyone tried it yet?

Is there any chance that Vodafone will be approving and issuing it here?

Hi TimGriff6,

Unfortunately I don't have any details on this release however for any Firmware queries, I would advise taking a look at our Firmware FAQ page.

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

I saw it on here in latest Vodafone news, posted by Martin.  There's a bit of confusion in the text but it looks like a new ROM.  I just don't want to be the first to try it :smileytongue:

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

Thanks, A7.  Which of the Vodafone applications are likely to disappear with this ROM?  (By the way, is your signature out of date?)

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

The confusion in the text being they dont seem to know which phone its for?

Today sees the launch of the latest Android update for Vodafone HTC Desire HD2  customersThe new software is 3.14.161.3

They mention Android, Desire and HD2 in the same sentence... a year on I am still using non Vodafone ROM's and still the functionality is far superior to the OEM ROM's...

PS I am back again (like the renegade master) :smileytongue:

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

James,

Just to let you know I tried loading the new 3.14 ROM.

The load process went smoothly and when completed I checked the functionality of the phone, all seemed O.K.

Then I proceeded to load my apps on to my phone, an important one being TomTom.

I synced my phone with outlook to load up my phone contacts, again the phone seemed O.K.

However when I tried to pair my Bluetooth earpiece I couldn't switch on Bluetooth.

I got a message 'Unable to turn on Bluetooth'

I then reset the phone using 'Factory reset' and tried again, however I got the same problem with the Bluetooth.

I ended up reverting to the 1.72 ROM, which works fine.

I'll keep checking the forum to see if anyone can suggest anything but my advice is if you need to use Bluetooth stick with an older ROM.

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

James, your link does not work and why is Vodafone so SLOW and behind with the ROM updates? And why is there no Vodafone official statement that this is the correct ROM update for the HTC HD2?

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

Installed this update and everything seems to work, including Bluetooth.

However, reading other forums such as XDA, those who installed the generic, non branded version of 3.14 reported that their RAM had increased to 576 MB, while on mine, with the Vodafone version has remained  448 MB.

Check your handset and please let us know.

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

I have installed the update and it seems to be working ok (including bluetooth) with one exception which I think has nothing to do with the phone.

Copilot live 8 won't load the UK map region without telling me that I need to enter the product key which it accepts and then crashes before going into a loop.  I will probably spend ages getting it working again which is frustrating.  The last time I upgraded the ROM I had a similar problem - it is such an awkward process to go through to get it working but I feel that I have to use CP because it is embedded in the ROM and when it is working, it is ok as a satnav program.  :smileymad:

The RAM seems to be 448 MB.

The stretching seems to be a lot smoother and gps seems to be much quicker to pick up satellites - hopefully the freezing will not occur as often as it did with the last ROM.

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

I had to go into Comm Mannager / Data Connection Setup data connection / Manage existing connections and change the (I think) Contract WAP to Vodafone WAP using the settings from http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/filestore/devices/HTC/HD2/HTCHD2_WAP.pdf

That solved the data connection for me.

The G vs 3G connection problem has always been there for me - 3G is shaky at home and the phone hunts between it and G which is a nuisance.  It doesn't seem to have improved with this update but I'll check whether it is worse the next time I'm out.

Re: HD2 ROM 3.14.161.3

I have been looking at applying this to my HTC HD2 running Windows Mob 6.5.

I  have problems connecting to a Garmin GPS receiver to use the latest garmin Mobile XT software.  I appear able to connect to the GPS receiver using Setings, Wireless Controls, Bluetooth.   I see the device and pair using the password.  I am then offerd a COM port (COM2 or BTC1 thru3).

However when trying to Validate the software using the GPS receiver the software continually looks for Bluetoth devices.  Garmin reply that I should contact HTC - very helpful - NOT!!!!!!

Incidentally my old Palm Treo 750v connects to the GPS receiver fine using the old version of the Garmin software.  The HTC doesn't with either old or new software.  I am loathe to install new software on old Plam Treo as I really like the Garmin software and the ability to plan routes on the PC and then upload to the mobile.  Also have all speed camera updates etc from POIHandler so would like to keep this as well.

Any one got any suggestions or have had similar experiences?

Thanks

ROM Version 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE

Radio  version 2.04.50.22..2

Manila version 2.5.1.19202525.0
