I have recently received a HTC 7 Trophy which I am pleased with. There is just one issue that I can’t resolve. The settings for the time and date do not have any option to set automatically as stated on the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 website. There isn't a second’s adjustment either so I have found it difficult to set accurately. I am also unable to get the time to sync with my computer when connected. What provides this option is it the phone software, the carrier (Vodafone) or do I need to get an updated sim card as it is a few years old now. I would appreciate any advice.

Hey Maxell123,

Thanks for your post about your HTC 7 Trophy.

A SIM swap may very well resolve this for you so I'd definitely give that a go. Most modern smartphone's get their times from the internet once you've set the correct time zone, which at this time of year is GMT.

If that doesn't work, then you may wish to reset the device:

Scroll down to and tap Settings
Scroll down to and tap about
Tap reset your phone
Tap yes to confirm.

I've searched the internet and can't find any other posts anywhere relating to this, so it may be an isolated incident.

I'd be interested to hear other users experiences of this.

Let me know how you get on with the reset.

Hi,

I have the same issue on my HTC 7 Trophy, OS version 7.0.7004.0.

Just tried resetting the phone and again, "Set automatically" option is missing from Date & Time settings. This is a serious issue as I'm trying to activate a developers account and need to have automatic time to connect with Windows Developer Portal.

Windows Phone and Windows as a developer is not a pleasant experience!

This is odd, as windows phone 7 should theoretically be all the same on all devices however I have the HTC HD7 and the date time settings are different compared to the Trophy, I have the option to set time according to the network. is this vodafone taking the setting out? I didn't think that the operators could or be allowed to do this.

But would like to see a fix for this too as my girlfriend has the Trophy, great phone none the less!

Personally i think developing for Windows Phone 7 is a far a better experiance than developing for the other os`s. the tools available are excellent. Plus the new features that will be available to us soon.

I have just looked and this feature is missing on my HTC Trophy 7.

What have you done with it vodafone?!

I don't think we've done anything with it.

The software, as I understand it, is rolled out exactly as Microsoft supply it.

Could you let me know which menus you are accessing to try and activate this feature?

Hi Lee,

Following the MS instructions at:

It says: 

1.  Go into Settings

2.  Scroll to Date+Time

There should now be an "automatic" option, which can be toggled on/off.  However my phone instead shows me:

 - 24hour clock - on/off [slider]

 - Time zone [dropdown list]

 - Date - text box [date picker]

 - Time - text box [time picker]

All my previous (Nokia) phones have either synced their time from the GPS, internet or when an MMS arrived.  It appears that the Vodafone HTC 7 Trophy can not be automatically set to update its time/date.  However the MS documentation suggests it should be possible.

WHen I was googling this problem the otherwise, I stumbled across this thread....

Thanks for your reply. My colleague has a HTC Trophy 7 and going into the menu we see exactly the same as you and there is no option to set the time automatically on or off. He has said that he has never had to manually set the date and time though and it's been set correctly automatically.

I contacted HTC and they say the options should be there on a stock HTC 7 Trophy, thus it would appear that Vodafone migh thave removed them via the customisation process.
