HTC Cha Cha - unable to receive picture messages

I am unable to receive a picture message from a person who is sending it from the O2 network. This person has contacted O2, who have confirmed it is not a problem with their network. In addition the person on O2 has sent a picture message back to the same phone, and it was received correctly.
Please could you assist me with the problem. Thanks.
p.s.
As I am unable to email my problem to Customer Support, as their is a technical problem (2 days now), and whenever I attempt to contact Customer Service via phone there is a very length delay, (and I just eventually end the call), my only option is therefore to post this thread in the hope that at some point it will be replied to and my problem is resolved.

I'm also having trouble with sending and receiving MMS to/from a friend using O2 in the last few days. I have an HTC HD2 (unlocked 2nd hand one, I wanted to try out a smartphone before getting tied into a contract). MMS has been working almost perfectly for months. Vodafone assure me my account is set for that service.
Why do these things suddenly stop working? I've made no changes to the settings on my phone. When I bought it, I just put in my SIM card and everything worked as it had done on my much loved, but elderly Sharp unit. I added the settings for using the Internet, and that, along with voice and SMS still works fine.
I see from the archives of forum messages for the HD2 that this issue used to occur and a hard reset was advised. Removing battery and SIM when the unit is still switched on seems a little extreme, is it wise to try that?
Thanks for any advice.

I have flagged this up to the Tech Team, I suspect that MMS needs to be re-activated. The Tech Team can look into this for you.

Hey guys,
Thanks for letting us know about the issues you've been having with MMS.
Can I ask you both whether you're redirected to a website called GetMyPhoto and asked to input a password?
Are you both able to send MMS OK to other networks?
Can you send one to yourselves?
If you can answer these questions either here on the forum or in the email I've just sent to you both then I'll be better equipped to be able to fix this.
@ lindylou - A hard reset won't hurt so it's definitely worth a shot ![]()
Cheers,
Lee

Hi Lee
Many thanks for the reply. It has taken ages to get back onto this forum. Your web team really need to improve the capacity of the Vodafone website - sorry to moan about that too.
OK, I have done the hard reset on my phone, no improvement. I have tried sending MMS to myself, also failed, as has a test MMS sent to a relative on Tesco mobile (is that O2?).
I have not seen anything about going to the GetMyPhoto website, although I think I recall that happening some months ago - it was a complete pain. I would not want to have to do that every time I want to receive or send MMS. 3g coverage where I live and work is patchy.
Call ref #8069218 shows the customer care team tell me that MMS is definately enabled on my account. What I don't understand is if it is not, what changed? I have not made changes to my account since August when I added the data option.
I have a bit of further information for you. My HD2 was purchased second-hand for me by a relative. It was a T-Mobile unit that we had unlocked and my relative restored the phone to it's vanilla state. The help sheets on your web site refer to menus I do not have on my HD2.I assume a Vodafone unit would have different menus. However, as explained, MMS were working perfectly for months until Saturday 9th Dec when I first noticed the problem. It may have occured earlier, of course.
Hope you can help!

I have one contact the secound tier Tecnical team and ask them if MMS is switched on on your account
I think you will find it a bit supprising
I had the same as you, until i contacted them
There the only ones that can turn it off and on
They will tell you it takes 24 Hours now if your settings are correct
they should be the same as this
http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/filestore/devices
Now MMS only works on 3G Not wifi it will do nothing on wifi

Thanks very much, Northern DJ.
I have a feeling that the MMS service has suddenly been turned off for my account, despite the customer care (or whatever they are called) telling me a few days ago the service is definitely enabled.
My phone is not an HTC Desire, the document you suggested has menu options not on my HD2, but thank you anyway.
My point is, if MMS has been working for months with no problems, and all I had to do was put my SIM card in my HD2, no need for setting up for MMS, why are MMS not now being sent or received?
Honestly, trying to get a straight answer from Vodafone seems impossible, despite a promising start.
My contract is due for renewal in a couple of weeks - time to look for a new provider, it seems. A shame after many years of relatively good, if expensive, provision from Vodafone.

Hi lindylou2
Thank you for the additional information, I am sorry you feel this way however I would love to get this resolved for you. ![]()
You mention that this has been taken back to a vanilla state, could you please ensure your device is using the latest software for your device as the issue may even be resolved by this.
I have sent an email to the address you registered with on here, once I have received your reply I will be able to investigate further including looking to see if your MMS settings are provisioned correctly.
Let me know how you get on.
Many Thanks

Thank you, Dave CD
I will look into the firmware/upgrades I might need. Not done that before so it may take a while to sort out how to back up what I have on the phone.
I have already answered a couple of emails giving the security information asked for, please see call #8069218 and the reply to Lee's email on 14th Dec, I answered at 00:32 this morning. 16th Dec having not been able to get more assistance on the forum. Lee had asked some other questions in the thread and said to email OR reply on the thread.
Could this discussion be moved to a new thread? I feel bad at hijacking the one started by the OP and my phone is a different model from the OP's?

Hi lindylou2
I always think that if you have a similar issue as the original poster it is always best to post on that thread, as any information given could help you too, and you can always share any things that each poster has tried.
If you can reply back to the email that DaveCD sent we can then take a look at your account to make sure that everything is provisioned on there.
Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin
Thanks for replying, and fair enough, if this forum prefers for the issue to be the lead item.
I have replied to DaveCD, on 16th Dec 00:32hrs. I also replied to Lee yesterday evening, ref #8099271 and am awaiting advice on that.
The capacity of the Vodafone website is so poor a lot of the time, it is impossible to access the site as it is too busy. When I have chance to keep working on this problem, I cannot keep waiting ages to get onto the site and so I have been emailing, and phoning, for assistance. I have now spoken to at least 3 very helpful technical staff, each has made a little more progress, but sometimes have led me completely off track. Sending settings instructions for different models of HTC where the menus bear no resemblance to what I see on my handset is not helpful, I'm afraid.
For a brief moment yesterday, I did manage to get MMS working again, but prior to that and in desperation, had requested settings be sent by text from the service on your website. As soon as these arrived, my MMS service was lost again. My language was not ladylike!
This really can't be that difficult to solve, can it?

Just to close off my own issues with MMS from an HD2 (I hope the original poster has their problems sorted out now).
Over Christmas I got some help from a relative and we downgraded my ROM version to the one used by Vodafone, my HD2 had a higher version of the ROM. MMS did start working again, but then we decided to upgrade the phone to Windows Phone 7. Apart from poor battery life, and the fact that Microsoft only permits photos to be sent by MMS, no video and no media can be attached to email with Win Phone 7, I am very pleased with the new OS.
So, a strange way to resolve my issues but I am half-way sorted now. Thanks to Lee from the eForum team who phoned me before Christmas and listened to all the attempts I had made to solve the issue by that point.
At least I know how to flash a ROM now - you learn something every day!

Hi Kes75,
I can see that you have posted regarding your issue in multiple threads.
To help keep everything in one place I am popping on to let you know that one of the team will respond to you in this thread as soon as possible.
I have logged that thread to be worked and one of the team will be able to help you further.
