I've created this thread for anyone to ask me any questions which aren't covered by my setup thread.

Feel free to ask away and I'll do my best to answer!

Hold the phone as I do in the video.

You will need to use a lot more force than you would normally use on a phone cover.

Press down (hear a click) and away in one continuous movement!

Re: HTC ChaCha - Ask your questions here!

Hi,

I myself am using a HTC Desire. Standard I can use chinese (pinyin) writing with it.

My girlfriend is thinking about the ChaCha. But it doesn't have Chinese as a standard.

I know there is an app like "Google Pinyin IME" and that work on my Desire.

Can you tell me if it will work on the Chacha, with it's keyboard, instead of on the touch screen?

Hopefully you can test this and help us. Before we buy one and it doesn't work.

Kind regards,

Ferdi

The HTC Cha Cha supplied by Vodafone here, has Firmware that is Western Europe specific and therefore has no capability to support Pinyin as standard.

As you have mentioned the only option would be to try a 3rd party Application such as "Google Pinyin IME".

I don't have the ChaCha available at the moment to try this for you. It might be a good idea to contact Google and check the compatibility.

You could also ask in the Vodafone store if they would be prepared to test the free App for you, before you buy!

Re: HTC ChaCha - Ask your questions here!

Hi Sophie,

Welcome to the eForum. :smileyhappy:

This sounds to me like a firmware error. Something has crashed. It could be the result of an, App not installing properly or not shutting down properly? It is definitely software related.

The best way to resolve this error is to perform a Factory Data Reset. BUT first back up all your Stuff!

This will reset the system and remove the error.

I have checked with other forums, and this is the recommended solution by HTC.

Hope this helps... :smileywink:

Hi stefaniedunn,

On your phone -

Go to <Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Scroll to Market and Tap on it.

Tap on <Clear Cache>

Re-start the Phone and try to download again.

Re: HTC ChaCha - Ask your questions here!

Hi.

I have problems with updates. After it has finished 100% download, it can't install because of insufficient memory space in the internal memory. But the thing is, I have only downloaded 2 apps and their sizes are not large enough to occupy that much space. And, is there a possible way to delete the apps that came with the phone?

Please help!

Re: HTC ChaCha - Ask your questions here!

There would be no way to remove the apps that came with the phone.

One option is to move any app you have onto your phones SD card. There is a handy app on the market to allow you to do this.

original.png Download the app uding the market Icon or click here

This app will search you phone to find apps that can be stored on your SD card and hence save space on your phone applowing you to download new apps.

Obvioculy before you can download that you will need to free up some space on your phone. The most likely culprit will be the browser app's cache. I don't have a chacha on me so these instructions may be slightly off (maybe one of the VF guys could get hold of a handset and check?)  you first need to open the browser, hit menu and select more. choose settings and you should see an option for Clear Cache. This should temporarily give you more space on your phone and allow you to install the app i mentioned above.

Hi millie777

Are you refering to sound when playing games, listening to music, or just general sounds?

The phone uses different sound levels for each type of process, i.e. games, music, ringtones, etc.

So the Call volume can be high, but when playing a game the volume can be set lower.

Go into Settings > Sounds > Volume.

What do you mean, "Where do my Games go"

Do you mean the Apps/Games you download from Android Market?

Or do you mean Games you wish to add yourself?

Re: HTC ChaCha - Ask your questions here!

Hi jondaripper2012,

Welcome to he eForum from all of the team.

From what you have said it sounds like the phone has developed a fault where it thinks that the headset is still plugged in.

To resolve this please can you try the following;

Restart the phone,

Back everything up and perform a factory reset,

Send the phone away for a free of charge repair.

This should then resolve the issue that you are having.

@ cickyd2,

Can you confirm what password it is that you have forgotten?

If this is your Gmail account password then there should be a password reset button under the login box.

If this is the password to the handset then you would need to enter this incorrectly until it prompts you for a PAC then enter your PAC that can be found on your online account.

James
