Thanks for the post and welcome to the Vodafone eForum
There's a few questions I'm going to need you to answer before we can get to the bottom of this.
Firstly, have you been able to send MMS from this phone previously or is it the first time you've tried?
What is the error message you're getting when you try to send?
What is the error message you get when you try to open one you've been sent?
Are you able to put your sim card into another Vodafone and try to send/recieve an MMS? What happens if you try?
Please let me know and I'm sure we can get this sorted for you.
Many Thanks

Change the "Connect via" option to Contract WAP.
MMS messages cannot be send over the Internet Gateway, so you'll need to make sure it's sending it via WAP instead. That should resolve the issue

You say this same SIM works fine in any other handset? That rules out any problems account-side or network-side, and only leaves the handset settings - which as you've just confirmed, are already correct.
I can only assume, by process of elimination, that there is some form of fault with the handset which is preventing this from working. I recommend you send it back to O2 for a repair under warranty.

Thanks for your attempts to resolve this issue. There is nothing wrong with the handset you only have to look at all the blogs on line. What you are saying is that all these blogs reporting that vodafone MMS does not work with HTC HD2 means that all the handsets are faulty. You should look to see why all these handsets work fine when "ON contract" but not on "pay as you go".
Hi Dreyfuss60,
Try seeing this from my point of view for a moment. We've had no reports of customers with handsets purchased directly from us having any problems at all with MMS not working.
We will not have had anything to do at all with the firmware on SIM-free handsets or those from other Operators, so it's not as if we've had any part in stopping this from working. If it works on our custom firmware, and not on ones from another network, that can only possibly indicate a fundamental flaw with their custom ROM that prevents Vodafone MMS from working for whatever reason. That can't be our fault. MMS is a standard protocol across all networks, so there's simply no reason for it not to work provided all the settings are correct - which in your case, they are.
I don't have the luxury of basing my information on blogs or anecdotal evidence, but must instead rely on the facts - and in this case, the facts are that Vodafone branded HD2's have no problem sending MMS, and non-Vodafone HD2's are the responsibility of either HTC or the operator they were purchased from. If our MMS isn't working with their custom firmware, then that's an issue you'd need to be taking up with them who actually had a hand in developing the affected ROM.
I truly am sorry that we can't help you, but I can't provide proper support for a handset version that we've not sold you.

From the HD2 home screen head to settings and select Wireless Controls
Select Menu > Connections
Under Contract Internet select Add a new modem connection
Add the following settings
Name for connection - Vodafone WAP (it doesn't really matter what this is though)
Select a modem - Cellular Line
Next
Access point name - wap.vodafone.co.uk
Next
User name - wap
Password - wap
Domain - (leave blank)
Finish You will now be back at the Connection Settings
Select Manage existing connections. This will take you to Contract Internet with a list of connections. Ensure the one you have just created (Vodafone WAP if you have followed the instructions above) is selected.
Select OK, OK, Done (you should now be back at the Settings)
Now head over to the messaging app
Select All Messages
Select Menu > Settings > Options (this should take you to the settings for the SMS / MMS options)
Select Menu > MMS Server
From here create a new server (you could edit an existing one, but at least if you create a new one you still have existing settings in place if you need to revert back)
Add the following Settings (I know they are a copy of those found all over these forums but I wanted to put them here anyway)
Server Name - Vodafone MMS (again it doesn't really matter what you put here)
IP address - 212.183.137.12 (or put .012 at the end it really won't affect the IP address)
Port Number - 8799
Server address - http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Connect via - Contract Internet (see notes below*)
Message Size - 300KB
WAP version - WAP 2.0
Select Done
Ensure Vodafone MMS is set as the MMS server to use.
Select Back > Done > Back to leave the message app
*selecting contract internet forces the messaging app to use the settings we configured earlier. i.e. it uses the wap.vodafone.co.uk access point.
Try sending an MMS. If it doesnt' work revert your settings. If it does then check you can still browse the web with the browser (Ensure your wireless is turned off and ensure you are opening the browser when you do this. If it is open in the back ground then it will continue to use whatever internet connection it was using when you first opened it).
