I had this device since Jan 2010.

We went thru the pain of not sending SMS text messages, and its now on ROM 1.66.405.2 76641 WWE did this as soon as it was available.

I work in London and catch the trains into and out of work and use the tube four or five times per day.

When I get off the train and into the open air, the phone fails to make a connection for ages (sometimes its been over an hour).

Network and band freq are both set to auto.

Any suggestions ? I tried latest HD2 ROM for VF users, but it says my SN is not suitable for the ROM upgrade.

Hello Lwb

Although signal can vary when entering or exiting the Underground system, I would suggest setting your network selection mode to Manual at first, you can then choose to have this connected via 2G, this eliminates any difficult 3G access spots.

I suspect that the phone is attempting to search for a solid 3G signal as it comes from the underground.

Additiopnally, can I ask how old the sim card is and whether you have always transfered it from handset to handset when upgrading, (if you have upgraded).

Hi Mr Reidar_Vodafone.

The SIM is the same age as the phone, I defected from O2 when I got the phone.

Im happy to set the phone back to GSM as surfing the internet is slow so I dont use it.

Ill give it a try and see how we work out, it is worth giving it a week to see if the changes have made any effect.
