HTC Legend - PC Connection issue

Menu --> Settings --> Connect to PC

Change the default connection type, or tick the "ask me" box.

That should do the trick.

HTC Legend - PC Connection issue

I'm having the same problem. I updated to Android 2.2 last week and initially saw noticeably improvements and was very happy but within hours found a few bugs.

1) the keyboard defaulting to a non English laguage (giving a QWERZ keyboard)
2) my alarms being erased
3) passwords to websites were deleted from the browser
4) Mobile networks defaulted to GSM only instead of GSM/WCDMA auto

These were all easily fixed once discovered, but the one problem I can't seem to resolve is connecting my phone to my laptop. Previously there were no problems, and connecting the USB would result in the laptop automatically opening a window to display the memory card. Now, when I connect, the laptop knows the phone is connected but when I click on My Computer, and "D:Removable Disc" icon, it opens a windows asking me to insert a disc into removable disc D.

I use Windows XP operating system. Is there new software/firmware to be downloaded to enable me to connect my phone to my computer to move music and photos to and from my mobile and computer?

I know about Settings>Connect to PC> I have it ticked to ask me when it connects to a PC and my default connection type is Disk drive.

Has anyone else been able to access their phone/memory card since updating to 2.2?

HTC Legend - PC Connection issue

Nothing changed on my Legend after updating to 2.2! If I connect with the phone locked, it charges. If I unlock I get the option as before to select charge only, disk drive, etc. Sorry not much use to you!

Re: HTC Legend - PC Connection issue

I have the same problem and had it before updating. It does not help to change the settings in the menu. Probably either a virus (and then what to do) or the USB cable (which I will check). Seems to be a very common problem also with other models. WHAT DOES htc SAY ABOUT THIS ?

Re: HTC Legend - PC Connection issue

[ Edited ]

Hi, me again. This issue of being unable to connect my Legend to my laptop remains. You'll see I posted about this 2 months ago (see above).

Prior to the 2.2 update, I had no problems. All I had to do was connect it with the USB cable and it would automatically recognise my phoen was connected and open up a window asking what I wanted to do.

Now, I connect the phone exactly as before and I can see an icon added in the 'My Computer' folder as Removable Disc (D:smileyhappy:. But when I click on this icon, a window appears asking me to "insert a disc into Removable Disc (D:smileyhappy:". For some reason, the computer knows a device has been added but doesn't fully recognise it.

I'm hoping this is a simple issue of some protocol in some menu needs to be ticked/unticked so my computer recognises it.

The Settings>Connect to PC>Default Connection Type is set to "Disc Drive" but it makes no difference.

I am unable to save photos to my computer or change the music stored on my memory card.

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?

Thanks.
