Ever since updating my HTC legend to the newest android available. (i think its 2.1) whenever I load up messages from any contact it shows the oldest msgs first and I have to scroll to the bottom of the list to show the newest ones. which is difficult when I have some threads from people with over 100 msgs which means scrolling for almost a minute every time i want to read a new messages.

Is there a fix for this?

Nice of the mods to edit your title but not bother replying.

This is a known issue. There is no fix available right now. There may or may not be one in the future, Vodafone won't (or can't) tell us anything.

Best option is to install either Handcent or ChompSMS (free from the Market) and use those instead. They're both slightly annoying in their own ways, but at least they sort the messages correctly.

this has happened to me....a right pain in the rear end...was working fine before the update...thought it might sort itself out if I deleted all my threads but to no avail...very very frustrating...

I stupidly downloaded the update this morning.

What a total pain in the ######, is there no way to un-update your phone??

Ive read about the SMS apps that you can install but the idea of advertising when I send an SMS is not appealing at all.

I guess regularly deleting the threads would keep the chains shorter.

Anyway, THANK YOU VODAFONE!!, you have managed to find yet another way to annoy me and generally ###### me off.

Handcent only has ads in the settings screens. It's not a great app, not as good as the default one - but it does at least work fairly well for most things.

There's always the option of debranding your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671520

I haven't done it myself yet (although I have a goldcard and am downloading an unbranded ROM as I write this.)

Caveats apply: Mess about with your phone's OS at your own risk. You may turn it into an expensive paperweight if you screw up. Your vodafone warranty will be voided, etc. Although I can't see any reason why you couldn't just stick a branded VF ROM on there before sending the phone in for repair - it would be impossible for them to tell.

We are aware of the issue and have raised it with our devices teams, at this moment in time the only solution is to use the handcent app however, once we have more information we will let you know.

I must add to this thread as I only signed-up to raise the same concern!
I text alot and this is the single most annoying update that I could ask for. Why on earth would they do this?? Still one of the best phones i've had but this has really knocked it down. Fix it PLEASE!!

Did they say what they were going to do? Did they say "go away problem doesn't exist"? Something else?

Hi - I too have only signed up to this forum to seek out why this SMS fault has occured since the update (I did it weeks ago) and if there is a fix.
Thanks for the Handcent app advice. I'll try that later although it seems poor that Vodafone cannot issue a fall-back or reversal to the previous HTC software update (a backdate?!?).
Why do we have to rely on third party software to fix a problem. Is there no quality assurance/testing on these software updates?

Vodafone, please can you give us a straight answer on if this is being corrected? I imagine there are thousands of people just putting up with this fault (like I have until now) without complaining.

I have had this problem since updating about 1 month ago. i downloaded handcent from the market which is okay but to be fair we shouldn't have to..

Is anyone any further on with, when this issue is going to be resolved its getting highly annoying... No one seems to be getting any answers are we meant to just sit back and wait for months..

Hehe, I was really shocked at the latest update. Really poor quality control letting that go through. I know some people who have the HTC Legend on Vodafone and I am telling them all to not download the latest patch.

It really is a complete pain having to download another text app because now I get multiple notifications or none at all. I can't seem to get a decent balance.

Since the latest update, Sense keeps crashing and I can no longer have my voice mail on, since the phone will send all calls straight to voice mail, without ringing. Now what do I do? It's basically turned my phone into a piece of rubbish.

This is hardly the only problem since Update 1.

My phone is totally ###### and I resent it more and more each day.

Weather no longer auto updates. You select the option and it just forgets it as soon as you back out of the settings menu. Then I totally cleared the cache and data wiping all my scenes and layouts and it's still a fault. It crashes all the time and the reception has got even worse (which is quite an achievement! - I've never ever had reception this bad, it's like being back on Mercury in the 90's).

I give up, my gf gets an upgrade in November and I'm gonna get her to get me an iPhone 4 and buy her something else cos I can't cope with this pile of ###### anymore.

I thought I'd escaped poor firmware when I stopped using Nokia.

Spent hours trying to fix this with the phone menus until I eventually got an answer to this problem when I signed up for the eForum.
Vodafone, HTC or Android need to get this fixed ASAP.

Same problem here.

I used to tell everybody that the HTC Legend is the first phone I have ever used for the last 10 years that I actually had no complaints about -- but now with this bug update it changed. This bug is annoying enough to chose another phone for!!!
