Hello
I just notice this says this is Solve but can not find any solution in the posts as repair does not seen to work, I can not use my phone with this issue and still have another 10 - 11 Months of my contract left. What good is it waiting for 10 people to have this issue before is looked into that doesn't help me or anybody else on this post as that could be months away. Please can this be taken off of Solve status and be looked into

I have the same problem with my Legend; it is on charge overnight, all night, and never shows the green 'fully charged' light.
I have sent my phone away for repair once which made no difference and I am not happy about being without my phone again for a week when it will probably come back the same!
I use 'switches' for things such as bluetooth, gps, mobile internet, wifi etc to retain battery life a little longer!
Please find a suitable solution to this common fault!

Hi Guys
With the amount of customers letting us know there is an issue, I would recommend sending the phone away for repair as it doesn't look like it is occurring with everyone’s phone.
We would still like to raise this so if you are affected please let us know the firmware number you are using so that we can add you to the list in which case we can raise it. Without the firmware number you are using I can't raise it.
Thanks
Martin

Hello
I recieved a replacement handset today because of this issue, and the same thing happens (as I had to keep my old battery to use) so know I have either been sent a faulty phone or its the battery. I am going to order a battery tonight and see if that resolves it

hello
I brought a new battery for my phone and so far it seems to have solved my problems. the new battery lasted about 6 hours on heavy usage as I was trying to drain it to do a proper charge, charging it up this morning and so far so good it seems to be charging ok. Got the battery off of Ebay and cost about £4 for a 1500 mah so should last longer than the stock battery anyway

Both me and my wife have HTC Legends and suffer from this problem.
Android 2.2
Baseband version: 47.51.35.17U_7.13.35.05
Kernel version: 2.6.32.17-g732a780
Build number: 3.14.161.1 CL282424
Software number: 3.14.161.1
Our battery calibrations are both completely out of whack and there appears to be no way of fixing this other than to root the phone and use someone elses firmware.
Please count this as 2 to the overall requirement (although why you need an arbitrary 10 is totally beyond me).

I don't get the impression anyone at Vodafone is paying the blindest bit of attention to this thread any more. We have nine examples by my reckoning reported here, and little sign of anyone else adding to it.
My phone is practically useless now. An overnight charge gives 55% at best and it can be in the red within an hour of switching on - in other words it has to be off overnight to recharge at all. Recharging when switched on does not increase the charge percentage and it sits plugged in on my desk all day which is no good if I have to leave the office. However, if I put the battery in my wife's Wildfire it still charges fully. I've now emailed Vodafone customer services as this seems to be going nowhere.

So, my email to customer services basically told me to take the phone to a retail store or mail it to them so they can fix it. I think we've already established that that does not work, but I'll play along for now.
I dropped it in at the local store at lunchtime today and reverted to using the family standby, a Nokia 1600 which has sat in a drawer for the last year and not been charged in that time - I know this because my daughter had been using it prior to getting her own phone on her birthday last year and no-one has used it since. Switching it on I found that the battery was fully charged! Makes me quite nostalgic for the days I had Nokia phones that just kept on working no matter what.
I'm interested to know what's happened to the other phones on here that are clearly not getting fixed, or those that were sent back and are still problematic.
So far I'm not massively impressed by customer services- it all seems a bit production line and in my experience that's the type of environment where people with genuine issues end up getting nowhere and giving up. If anyone from Vodafone IS paying attention please contrast this with my experience with Renault in the past couple of days, who offered to pay 80% of a repair bill despite my car being out of warranty within an hour of me contacting them. That's customer service.

Hello FieryTowse,
Thanks for your post about your battery on your HTC Legend.
We take note of all threads on the eForum unless we are not alerted to a new post. As you say, we've now got 9 separate cases and as we've stated before, the devices team will not look into an issue unless we have ten unique cases.
Let me know how the repair/replacement turns out and let us know the firmware version if there's no change.
Cheers,
Lee

Lee - did you count my wifes phone along with my post?
My Legend told me three days ago that the battery was flat. Total uptime is 77+ hours and it's still running.
The problem appears not to be the battery life - but the Legends ability to read it.

I got a message yesterday that my phone was available to collect at the local store. I received a replacement handset instead, not my original handset repaired, so clearly it couldn't be fixed.
The firmware details are the same for the new (refurbed) handset, ie:
Android version 2.2
Build number 3.14.161.1
I'm charging it switched off at present to see if I can get it to take a full charge and get the green light, so I'm reserving any judgment until then.

Today's efforts at charging my refurbed replacement handset are not encouraging. Checking a couple of hours ago the battery level was 92%, at which point I switched it off again (not disconnected from the charger at any point I would add) expecting the green light to show shortly after. I let a full two hours pass before swiching on again, only to find that the new reading was 91%. The phone has now been up for 20 minutes, 4 of those awake. The battery meter has not increased in that time and remains at 91%.
Now, while this is a vast improvement on my previous phone, it's also comparable with the readings after the upgrade on that phone to 2.2, with a continual deterioration to the point already discussed above. Apparently this handset also shows signs of this issue.
I'm going to charge the phone overnight, again switched off to see if I can get a green charge light. I will report back, with the expectation that if this still persists that it should be considered the 10th unique example (if necessary I'll supply the two IMEI numbers as proof).
FT.

Well, well, well, and I thought I was the only one. I have exactly the same issue. Started in November for me. I thought I was alone but this seems to be quite a common problem. Not that you would think it when you call customer services who seem to fob you off. I'm still waiting for the repair envelope to arrive. I'm on Android 2.2 as well, build no 3.14.161.1. I think this makes me no 10. My phone is now almost useless as it just drains in a short time, despite me disabling everything you buy a smartphone for. Vodaphone, some assistance please.

Welcome to the club desookmeister and by all means 10th spot is yours.
I can confirm that my refurbed replacement handset does not charge fully and does not show a green light, despite the fact that to all intents and purposes it is as new and practically unused. The battery meter also does not show any significant increase when charged switch on, it just keeps on showing "charging" and certainly does not charge to the level that can be achieved when switched off. That makes 11 unique examples, and let's not forget that that is only from forum users - we have no idea how many others have returned their phones with the same issue but not been active here. It's time for the Tech team do something about it, and that includes a bit of research of other forums to see that this is not that rare an issue with this phone and build of 2.2.
While this phone might see me to the end of my contract, the matter is far from closed and Customer Support will be getting a response to my original complaint that receiving a phone with the same issues is not a satisfactory resolution. At this moment in time, I have no intention of renewing with Vodafone when the time comes.
FT.
