HTC Legend sim blocked query

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my pay monthly phone and was hoping to pass my old phone (HTC Legend) onto a friend, but when he put his PAYG sim in it said the phone was blocked and would not do anything.
So after a quick look myself i changed the sim option to PAYG and it came up okay for me, could i have solved this or will it block again if another sim was used, the phone was mine from new, only thing i did was factory reset the phone before my friend got it.

Hi malk95,
To be honest it would have been to configuration settings that would prevent the internet access on the phone and as a result it couldn’t have synced with Gmail to access the majority of the handsets functions other than calls and texts.
By changing the settings it would then allow this connection however, if it is that he is using a non Vodafone SIM in the phone then you may need to request for it to be unlocked form our network by filling in the online NUC form.
