Read this. it is Vodafone's official announcement:
You have been promising for nine months that we will be updated before the end of the year. By now you should be done testing, and almost ready to roll this out.
Can you clarify this please?

I gave up waiting - and despite the dire warranty warnings, rooted and upgraded to a newer ROM.
Wish I'd done it ages ago - rather than waiting for Vodafones update (which looks increasingly unlikely).
Now I've got a phone that runs faster, battery lasts longer, doesn't have bloatware and most importantly is running Froyo - far more secure.
Those still waiting for an official VF update, best of luck.

Rather than spending time closing down discussion threads I wonder if you could actually answer some of the queries..
I am still waiting for information on exactly what it means when you say you are chasing the relevant people. Are you emailing them, if so please let us see the responses? Are you having meetings, if so please invite some users to attend so we can put our case? I'm afraid that after so many months, it is no longer acceptable to ask us to keep waiting without any idea of what is going on.

Thank you for coming back to the forum to answer questions. It's been frustrating in the past because moderators have never really come back to topics, and much has gone ignored. Your help is appreciated, even if it contains no answers we seek yet.

Chasing up for nine months, where are they !!!!
I have been a loyal and long standing customer with Vodafone for over 10 years and have never received such poor support, I can only assume by previous moderators replies we only have to wait another 27 days for the update.
Perhaps you are saving it for 25th December, as a welcome present for us Magic users ???
There are going to be a lot of unhappy customers come 1st January 2011 if we have not received the update we have been PROMISED on several occasions, this will amount to a LIE in our eyes, would Vodafone agree this is a breach of contract ?
Please Click Kudos if I have helped you

The problem is, I'm guessing that many VF customers (myself included), have already rooted and upgraded as they've lost patience waiting.
Problem is, that doesn't give VF much of an incentive to actually issue an official update - which I think is appalling customer service, as it's left many having to root and upgrade themselves.
Some owners always will root and flash to a custom ROM, but equally, many would have been happy with an official stock ROM.
But by leaving customers with no option (given the vulnerabilities in 1.6), many have ignored the warranty disclaimers and just flashed and upgraded individually.
To be honest, I'll be surprised if an official update is forthcoming this year - if at all.
The communication is so dire, that there's no definite release date - and no official information that the update's actually being worked on, or at what stage of development it's at.
Seems to be all chinese whispers, that there 'may' be an update - or worse, just being told to look at ancient announcements or threads like this every time the subject's mentioned.
Vodafone really do need to make a definitive statement, one way or the other - either there is a DEFINITE update coming (with a proposed release date), or there isn't.
And if an update isn't going to be released, release an easy rooting tool for VF customers - to enable even the least technically savvy owner to upgrade to a ROM of their choice.
I've been with Vodafone for years, and think they've really mishandled their smartphones - updates should have been released as soon as practically possible (like other carriers have done with more or less identical phones).
If this is going to be the case with future phones, then I hope VF just ship them with standard HTC ROM's installed - so users can just update whenever a release is available.

They have been saying for nine months that there will be an update this year. The last month is almost a quarter gone, and still they can't make any statement.
The (fictional) update will be at the testing phase by now. A forward thinking company would use the techno-nerds available here on the forum to use as Guinea-pigs before the whole rollout. It really is unacceptable that in this modern technology-based society, that Vodafone still treat us like idiots.
They have stated that there will be an update before the end of the year, so it can't be for any business reason. The only answer is that there is no update, and we have been strung along for a year with promises that will never materialise.
Simply look at Twitter and search for #Vodafone to see how many deeply unhappy people there are with you. Fortunately for you, you have the luxury of a large customer base, but as people discover what you are really like they are migrating to Tesco, T-mobile, etc. You are very slowly shooting yourself in the foot.
You have promised an update for a long, long time, where the heck is it?
Moderators. That the people you contact can't give you a simple answer to the customer, or any answer for that matter is indicative of how you view your customers. Once you have our money, you stop caring. I am sick of having to ask, then getting told off for asking. Where the heck are the answers to the questions we demand answers to?

"Google is rolling out a maintenance release for Android (2.2.1) and Vodafone Nexus One customers will start to receive alerts that this update is available to download over the air during the next 24 hours. This update contains bug fixes and security patches for Android 2.2."
Like many have asked just a YES or NO for the update pretty PLEASE.
08-12-2010 11:18 AM
I already have the 2.2.1 ROM with the small maintenance update via our good friends at T-Mobile.
yes I was naughty and switched ROM's to the official T-Mobile 2.2.1 for the Magic.
I think you should all do the same........
