HTC One M8. In Call Speaker not working.

Recently my HTC One M8 call speaker has stopped working.

The Audio player speaker works fine, as does the notification sounds.

Whenever I try to call someone or they try to call me, I hear nothing at all.

It was working fine in the morning & in the afternoon of the same day, nothing.

I have tried a factory reset & complete wipe of the phone, to no avail.

Is there anything else I can do?

Hello.

Welcome to the eForum.

Ensure their is no dust / lint in any of the ports including the mic.

Remove any case and check that any affixed screen shield is not hindering.

This could be be a network connection issue so it's worth checking your masts.

Can you please check if you've not already done so what the Vodafone Network Mast Status Checker is reporting for your area.

Please use the Zoom out feature in the map to check surrounding areas for issues.

Perhaps check your sim in another phone as a process of elimination to check wether it's your sim or phone at issue.

Samsung offer a 24 month warranty so you could liaise with them if your own troubleshooting attempts fail.

What happens if you turn handfree on during a call?   Can you hear anything then?   I don't know, but I'm guessing this may use both speakers so, if the problem is with the upper one, the lower one might come into play.  Similarly, when you're playing audio, does sound come out of both speakers or only one?   If it's only one, it sounds like a hardware problem.  Either way, I think I feel a repair coming on.  If it was anything else, a factory reset should have fixed it.
