HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Hi

I have had a HTC One X for the past month, however this problem has been gradually getting worse.

Mainly in work but its also happened other places i can have a great signal and be on HSDPA or 3G, then i will move to somewhere such as the kitchen area in work and the signal will drop out. I will then return to my desk and put the phone in the exact place it was getting full signal and data connection but the Signal will not come back. I will get the No Signal message.

I have tried leaving the phone for over 30 mins but the signal doesnt come back and also looking for the network manually but it doesnt find it.

However, if i restart the phone the full signal and HSDPA/3G connection will come back.

Is this a fault with the phone or a strange network issue?

Good Evening Tech team,

I've had my new HTC One X for around a month, was all working fine, two updates aago (one before jelly bean) I had a firmware upgrade. Since upgrading I have been experiencing this problem.

When I turn my phone on or reset I get a full signal off 3-4 bar (I am in an urban inner-city area) for about 5-20 secods and then it drops to nothing, to regain signal for another 5-20 seconds I must reset or turn on and off flight mode.

I have tried:

-multiple sims

-hard resetting

-suggested taping of micro sim to make thicker

With the template

Does this happen if all locations when signal is lost?   yes, this includes various UK cities where I have had and did have on this phone, full signals

What postcode does this happen in? Several, across the country inc cf24 4dg

What software are you running?  Jelly bean

Do you have a Vodafone or an open market (unbranded) handset?  vodafone

Does this happen if you change the network settings to WCDMA Only? yes, reads preparing sim

Would be great to have some input and recommendations, is there a way to downgrade firmware? is this something that is likely to be resolved soon and if not i could replace the handset? If your uncertain of when/how this would be resolved I would appreciate that clarrificattion.

Thanks,

Jeldrid

Hi jeldrid,

It’s unusual that this has happened after the latest firmware updates. Since they were done have you tried a full factory reset? If not could you try this (remembering to back up your data first) and see how you get on. Doing the factory reset will remove any traces of old firmware that may be still on the phone.

If after the aboveyou’re still facing the same issue, I’d recommend that you send the phone for a warranty repair.

With regard to downgrading the firmware, I believe there are processes that will do this, but we are unable to offer any advice on that as we would recommend updating to the latest version of the firmware.

Thanks

Hi I have a htc one that is having signal drop out as well as sim not recegnised. I am running latest software and it is happening in various locations across the country. I can have my phone next to my wife who is also on vf and she can have a full signal. My phone is vf branded and so is my wifes iphone 4s

Ben

Hi benmorley1982,

This could be a faulty SIM or a faulty phone.

I’d pop into your local Vodafone store to get a new SIM and if this doesn’t fix it, the next step is to send the phone for a free warranty repair.

I did sand with light paper my SIM card and problem was solved. It was getting worse every day. Thanks
while sanding the. Gold color has to look scratchy and color should be lighter than before.
