HTC Sensation Browser History

Has anyone noticed a problem with clearing history?  When I access my online bank, I clear the browser history after logging out from the bank and all of the visited pages diappear from the browser history page which looks good.  I can then use task manager to kill the browser.

If I open the browser again, it starts on the last page I visited.  If I then look at a few of random pages and use the back key, the screen goes through all of the pages I have viewed and thought I had cleared, including the ones with security information.  This seems wrong.  Is it a case of a screen cache needing to be cleared as well as the browser history?

Re: HTC Sensation Browser History

Hi TimGriff6,

To be honest it is always advisable to clear the cache on the phones browser as it is this that stores a lot of the details including the security information.

Although the browser history should remove the pages, if the cache has not been removed, details will still be accessible from the cache.

Thanks James - in browser, settings, privacy & security there is an option to clear the cache but using that and 'clear internet history' does not prevent the last page opening when you start the browser again and using the back button allows access to previous pages.

I wondered whether the HTC sense or some other element has a cache in it with, if you like, screen prints, which can be accessed outside the browser?

Edit: Using Forward from the browser menu also gives me access to pages which I would have expected to have been deleted by History or Cache emptying

Re: HTC Sensation Browser History

Hi TimGriff6

Thanks for your reply. This isn't something that we've come across before. It should be that once the cache, cookies and history have been deleted that these are no longer available to display the next time you click on your browser.

I'm going to try the HTC Sensation in the office now to see if I can replicate the issue. I'll be on with an update shortly.

Thanks

Simon

Re: HTC Sensation Browser History

Hi TimGriff6

Thanks for your patience. I've tried to replicate the issue here on one of the office devices and I have encountered exactly the same issue. What firmware version are you running on your HTC Sensation? You can find out how to get this on our Help Centre. I'd also recommend trying to update your phone to the latest firmware if it's not on this already.

Once I have this info I we can investigate this further.

Thanks

Simon

Re: HTC Sensation Browser History

Hi TimGriff6

Thank you for your post.:smileyhappy:

This is very peculiar and in order for us to raise this to our device team we require three different examples.

If you are reading this thread and are experiencing the same issues please post on here with the firmware version of your device as seen on our Help Centre.

Many Thanks

Re: HTC Sensation Browser History

must add, it's not easily reproduced for me. Occasionally, usually when hitting 'back' after opening a URL from a different app, the browser will go back to an old URL. Have just cleared cache and history and will see if it happens again.
