HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Like most people I'm delighted with my HTC Sensation (I upgraded from HTC Touch Pro2, and it's like being on a different planet)

But I can't get it to sync my Outlook 2010 Calendar and Contacts from my PC (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit)

Worked perfectly the first time.  Then my PC wouldn't recognise my phone (though I could see it in Device Manager).

USB debugging is ON,  I uninstalled it and re-installed (using the latest download from HTC) and the PC now recognises the phone but when I click on 'sync now' I get an error message :"Warning:cannot copy Calendar (Contacts) from your device"

Just tried again and now, on my phone I get the message "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC"

I've done an online search and it doesn't seem to be an unusual problem (going back a year or so)

Any thoughts appreciated.  Thank you

Hi,

I had the same problem and i eventually purchase the 'missing sync' . It cost nearly $40.00, but was money well spent. Now I can sinc via wifi to my PC (much better than wires and bluetooth) with Outlook 2010 contacts/calendar/notes. It will also sinc folders. Gives you a record on your PC of sms messages and phone calls which is great. It can also automatically sync every when you are near your PC/router.

For me this is great.

check out their website here

hope this helps

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

I must admit I have found that HTC Sync causes nothing but problems - so I dumped it - and found on Android market "My Phone Explorer" which is free (although a contribution to the developer wouldn't go amiss). You'll also need to download the computer component http://www.fjsoft.at/en/

It works fine for a Desire and a Sensation. It does calendar and contacts - and overcomes the zip code issue mentioned on other threads (although you still have to input the postcode in Outlook). You can do it through cable, Bluetooth or wifi (wifi seemed ridiculously easy...). Also backs up messages.

I have same problem, cannot sync anything, it's great that there might be otherways round it, but why does it not work to start with, why should we have to buy/download another product? Surely PC syncing on a smart phone should be one of the most important things HTC get right!!!

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Thanks agorman. I'll keep that solution in mind.  I did notice, however, in the small print of 'The missing sync' that it doesn't do Outlook 2010 64 bit (or may be I'm reading it wrongly?).  It seems to do everything else pretty well!

I seem to have solved my problem (but fingers are still crossed).  What I did was to delete my google calendar (completely).  The next morning all was well!  Who knows whether or not I did the right thing, but all's well so far.

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Meant to add.. I sync only Calendar and Contacts via HTC sync.  My music I sync using iSync WiFi - brilliant.

I have Outlook 2010 and win 7 64 bit, and missing sinq works great. - in order to use it you also have to install the app called fliq calendar and fliq notes on your handset - the fliq calendar is used instead of the HTC calendar, but is just as good (if not better)

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Hi agorman

took your advice and installe 'the missing sync': works a treat, no problems so far.

Except: how do I change the colours in the Calendar view?  Probably something VERY obvious, that I'm missing.  Website doesn't help.

Thanks

I can't recommend highly enough putting using the contacts & calendar in your gmail or google apps account & having that sync with your phone over the air. Works flawlessly.... Go on, free your phone of your desktop PC!

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Hi cjm

thanks for the reply

But I'd tried that, and got the same problem.

Since I installed 'the missing sync' I've had no problem syncing  Outlook (and the bonus is that it's wifi)

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Not a solution but I actually ended up going the other way and migrating to gmail, I had no issues at all moving all my mail and contacts and now everything is wonderfully synchronised without having to ever connect to a PC.

It was nicely helped along by the fact that Windows Mobile Device Center on my 6.5 device stopped working whenever it felt like it.

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Hi I had the same problem but it was due to USB debugging being switched of in my phone:

  • Goto settings
  • applications
  • Development
  • tick USB debugging

Solved my probs hope it works for you. HTC pc interface is a bit 'clunky' but you get used to it

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

Bingo,

after lots of frustration and trying, i think i found the problem.

if you go to windows' devices and open the HTS smart phone icon it may have yellow warning sign there. when you drill through you will find that driver is not assigned to it. assign the driver by searching your PC or elsewhere and install.

that shall fix the issue for good.

i had it working originelly well and then, sync just stopped and no "hammeing" what help no matter how i tried. then i backed off, which is usually good thing to do :-) and went to the devices only to find that despite numerous re-installs and tries dirver simply wasn't there.

hope this will save bit of time to someone at least

cheers from sunny Sydney

Nenad

Re: HTC Sensation Sync with PC problem

I had the same problem with my new HTC Sensation (upgraded from HTC Pro)

SOLUTION: Add the HTC Sync application to the Allowed programs list in the Firewall :-)
