Check for updates reveals I am up to date despite only running android 2.3.3 and htc sense 3.0 and the update schedule for ICS was March to June. How come i'm still waiting? I'm running firmware version 1.24.161.1.

You're about 3 updates behind the current one. There's only 1 way to get up-to-date...flash a newer RUU and then the OTA updates as they are presented to you.

The RUU (ROM Upgrade Utility) WILL wipe the phone so you'll have to set it all up from scratch but once doone you'll get the OTA updates as and when they are available.

The RUU is a Windows program and you just run it with your phone connected to the PC. You can get 1.27.161.1 from here:

Thanks, will give that a try on my day off tomorrow. Will future firmware version be OTA (if any?) or will i have to the same thing every so often?

The version you're currently on was the first and for some reason there wasn't an OTA to take you into the normal FW run. The same happened with the first batch of unbranded handsets as well. Painful I know but you should fine once you've used the RUU you should get offered the OTA updates in sequence

If you got a link (that's not FileFactory) then share it as it'd be easier just to go to that and then OTA from there

Thanks. Now up to date running ICS. Now just to wait for vodafone to rectify the signal in my house which disappeared about a week ago!

Yep. I downloaded the RUU for 1.45.161.1 and run it in windows. Instructions etc will come up so it's pretty straightforward. Once done keep going into check for updates until it gets to the Android 4.0 update. Total time for me (including time for downloads) was about 3 hours.

You may also need HTC sync installed (and open) on your PC for the RUU to recognise the phone is connected. The RUU update will wipe the phone so back it all up to begin with just in case.  All your apps will re-download afterwards.
