HTC Sensation - problem with Google Calendar reminders since last software update

Since the last software update for the Sensation (quite a few months ago), I've developed an annoying problem on Google Calendar. Any appointments I create via my phone gets a reminder set to "on time". I've changed the default setting to be "none" which does appear on the appointment but then at some later time it changes back to on time and an alert goes off. I've even gone into all the appointments and reset them to "none" and checked that it says none, but then when I check again it has changed back to "on time" and an alert always goes off. This doesn't happen with appointments I make from the PC. If I look at them from the PC, the phone ones have returned to saying reminder set to pop up at 0 minutes. I deal with patients and have all my appointments stored electronically so this is starting to drive me crazy! Phone is HTC Sensation Z710e. Android 4.0.3 HTC Sense 3.6 S/w no. 3.32.161.11 Any advice? Thanks

Re: HTC Sensation - problem with Google Calendar reminders since last software update

Hi emmarob10,

Thanks for your post here.

To be honest this is difficult to say what is causing the issue as I’ve not seen may complaints about this.

When you did the update can you remember if you had performed a factory reset after it completed?

If not then the issue could be with the firmware not fully installing and a factory reset would be the first step in getting this sorted.

Also have you tried a different calendar app other then the stock application available through the Google Play Store?

If would give these a go so we can then identify where the issue lies.

Re: HTC Sensation - problem with Google Calendar reminders since last software update

Hi James

Thanks for your reply.  I've done a factory reset on my phone and this is still happening.  I would rather not use another app as the Google Calendar function is the whole reason I bought an HTC and I use both the app and widget extensively.

If it provides any clue, when I create an appointment on my phone I can set the reminder to "none" - or have it set like that automatically by default - the problem happens with both options.  I can then go into the appointment and the summary screen shows the reminder set to "none". If I think come out of the app/widget (again problem replicates on both) and go back into it, the reminder will have set to "on time".  This doesn't happen if I set the reminder to 1 hour for example, it's just when I set it to none - which is the one I want!

If I look at my appointments via my Mac/PC, the ones I have made via my phone show as an invitation in that if I hover the mouse over it, it says Going - Yes? which I can change to maybe or no. If I go into the appointment, it shows as reminder pop up on 0 minutes.

Any ideas?  If you can't get a solution, can you recommend an app which also comes as a widget for the HTC Sensation.  I need a real time reflection of my calendar as well as read/write access to the additional 8 calendars as work with along with Google's birthday & holiday calendars.

Thanks

Emma

Re: HTC Sensation - problem with Google Calendar reminders since last software update

Hi emmarob10,

Unfortunately I don’t have access to the handset to test this for you however, looking through the online support and also my own Google calendar it looks though it could be the Google calendar at the Google server side causing this as when I manually add an event on a PC it doesn’t seem to have an option to not alert me.

The only thing would be to try and set the notification for something that isn’t going to vibrate or make a noise if possible in the calendar settings on your phone.

In regards to alternative applications, we can’t give any specifics about this however, I know there are a number of apps around for this.

If there are any other users on the eForum that have any ideas please let us know.

James
