HTC Tattoo - Phone Signal Strength

Hi, First time poster here please be gentle...., :D

Wondered if the hosts or anybody else with a Tattoo has a similar problem.

I have a tattoo for personal use, and I also have a blackberry on a corporate account, both with Vodafone.

It seems that the signal strength is less on the tattoo then on the blackberry. Would this be because the blackberry is better at signal reception or could there be a fault with the tattoo.

It's not a major problem at my home location, as the strength is fairly strong their. but if I go to an area with a weaker signal, then the reception coverage for the tattoo is noticably weaker.

I'm on a course, and the location has a very bad vodafone reception, and this has highlighted the fact, in that I can get a signal with the blackberry but not with the tattoo.

Could this also be one of the reason's the battery life on the tattoo seem short, in that it's having to boost the reception signal (apologies if this isn't the correct term....) to keep a strong signal?

Thanks

HTC Tattoo - Phone Signal Strength

Hi UniEagle,

A warm welcome to the eForum!:)

This is probably a case of the different phones picking up different signal levels, it could be due to damage to your Tattoo however it is normal for different manufacturer phones to pick up different strengths for example I'm using a iPhone 3gs and my older Nokia N96 and N95 both picked up a noticeably stronger signal.

The best way to test this would be too have another Vodafone Tattoo alongside yours in the area with the weaker signal, that way you could compare it to a phone that should be identical in every way.

If you need anything else then please let me know.

Thanks

HTC Tattoo - Phone Signal Strength

Hi

I have the same problem with mine, and it's causing a real problem. The signal on mine goes up and down without the phone being moved which makes it really difficult to talk on the telephone to anyone.

Also my battery life is terrible. I make sure I turn off the wifi and all of the aps with a task manager before I go to bed and the battery is almost always flat in the morning. Nothing like the 320 hours advertised on the HTC site. I even downloaded an app to try conserve it over night but it doesn't make a difference.
