HTC Wildfire S not up to scratch

Hi there, I am currently on a 24 month contract at 20 pounds a month with a HTC Wildfire handset. I was thrilled when I first received my handset and was impressed with using Apps, and all its features. However I have tired quickly - This was my first smartphone and my initial appreciation for the handset has turned into frustration. I believed I could 'put up with it'. But 24 months is a long time, and nearing to only my first year with this handset I am hating the thought of 'dealing with it' for another! I first had problems with sync, but now my main issue is its storage size - its ridiculously small! Im finding I can only have one additional downloaded application - this is just not sufficient for my present usage! I find myself constantly weighing up which application would be more important at the time, deleting and moving apps around - my friends and family have 20 plus applications with their handsets still in great working order. I believe when I took out the contract the handset would be reliable and work efficiently for my 24 month contract - however it isn't. Its just not good enough. I am a faithful customer to vodafone, and I would really appreciate something to be done about this. As Im now seriously considering ending my contract and even moving to another provider, who could provide me with a smartphone which will be efficient for the 24 month period. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi jaimoblee,
I’m sorry that you are experiencing issues with the Wildfire S.
When it comes to the memory on the phone unfortunately it is built with a smaller specification when compared to the more expensive phones and this is why it is available on a £20 per month contract.
o help with the memory management on your phone please can you try the following;
1) Uninstalling all apps updates and third party apps to clear their caches.
2) Reinstall/update only the ones that are needed/used, to minimise this problem re-occurring in the future.
3) Disable “Automatic update” in Android market for all applications under “My Apps”.
If you still need better memory management then you can use a tool called "disk usage" to see what is using most memory. (This can be found in the Market Place)
One example of a file using a lot of internal memory is "Facebook for HTC sense", once an exchange account has been added.
The memory that this app uses can be regained by removing the Facebook account from the HTC friend stream and clearing data (clear cache) from the “Facebook for HTC sense” application.
Facebook will still work with no problems.
Give this a go and let me know how you get on.
James
