Thanks for the update here.

 

To be honest it sounds like a faulty handset however to test this theory please can you try the following;

 

Back up all of your data including application,

Perform a factory reset,

Double check the APN settings and test again.

 

If this works, try adding a few apps at a time to see what causes the issue.

 

If this still doesn’t work then a free of charge warranty repair would be the next step.

i did try that not so long ago, and that didn't work either. to be honest, i am only a couple of weeks from a new phone [galaxy s3 :-) ] so am not too bothered now.
