Re: HTC have announced the ICS update before end of March. Are vodafone rolling it out instantly?

Got the OTA update last night and have to say it's nice. A LOT quicker than Android 2.3.4 (now running 4.0.3) and has a few nice touches. Should be good for everyone else so long as Vodafone don't play about with it too much
HTC One X (S720e)
ROM: 3.14.401.31 (JRO03C)
HBOOT: 1.39.0000 | Recovery: Stock
Radio: 5.1204.162.29 | Kernel: Stock

Re: HTC have announced the ICS update before end of March. Are vodafone rolling it out instantly?

HTC Sensation owners (including all variants) have long know that they’d be getting Android 4.0, but it looks like you won’t be getting the new HTC Sense 4.0 that will be found on HTC One phones. HTC confirmed the unfortunate news to Recombu.

They say that the decision to exclude Sense 4.0 on these devices was due to the fact that the new software was designed to take full advantage of the newest hardware advancements inside their “One” devices. While the Sensation devices are all dual-core Snapdragon devices, they’re housing the older S3 model and not the S4 model which will come inside the HTC One X.

The Desire HD wasn't gonna get Sense 3.0 but it did, so I don't believe that for a second. Might not get it straight away but I'd like to think we'll get it eventually.

There's already a port from the One X ROM for the Sensation on XDA for those wanting to take a look

Re: HTC have announced the ICS update before end of March. Are vodafone rolling it out instantly?

Hi, I have just read that the sensation owners are not getting the full release of ice cream sandwich, I am increasingly finding this hard to swallow, in just over a year since getting the phone, it appears to be out of date. We spend a lot of money on the latest phones as soon as they come out., and feel very let down by this.. Unsure what to do on the next upgrade????? What does everyone else think? Darren

Re: HTC have announced the ICS update before end of March. Are vodafone rolling it out instantly?

I reckon that with Apple managing to pull the wool over their customers eyes, and get away with a new iPhone model every 12 months, the other manufacturers are having to keep updating their products just to look like they are as "innovative" as Apple - apple have one product line, but everyone else has a range...if HTC/Samsung/Sony tried to say "we know it looks exact same as the last model, but honestly its much better" people would just laugh...

ultimately the consumers constant need for the newest piece of kit, has driven the manufacturers to have to keep reinventing themselves to keep their market share...

I'm running the full release of ICS from HTC directly at the moment so that's a load of rubbish!! As a member of HTC Elevate we are testing the rollout and it's working fine. It's going to the masses end of the month assuming the very few bugs in it are ironed out by then (or they'll release fixes once out)

That ICS on Sensation was amazing:

Having used both AOSP and Sense, I am still in the Sense camp. Don't think I could like it without (although I loved Cyanogen 7 so I am sure I could adjust)
