How do I get rid of this awful 360 software?

What a stupid piece of software. It does things my phone can already do, but a bit worse.

More importantly, why can I not uninstall it? This is not what I expect from Vodafone, and is more like the behaviour of AOL, Apple or HP, none of whose products I would ever touch due to their paternalistic insistence on shoving their own rubbish software down my throat.

STOP IT VODAFONE!

Hi junkflap,

I'm sorry that you feel this way about the service.

The application can't be removed form the device as it is a part of the firmware. This is the same of any other software or application that comes with the phone.

You can find more information about this and other firmware questions in our Firmware Explained thread.

It is possible to remove the software without rooting your handset etc though officially you can't. I doubt I'm allowed to post how on here but google is your friend.

XDA has some good forums and user names you might find familiar ;-)

XDA has a HTC Legend section and other guides.

Really?  Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Guitar Hero are "firmware"?

There must be a way to uninstall these junk programs, surely?

Re: How do I get rid of this awful 360 software?

No, as said the software is part of the ROM (firmware) which cannot be edited as it's Read Only Memory

Only way of removing them is to root/debrand your phone and voiding the warranty in the process

HBOOT: 1.39.0000 | Recovery: Stock

Re: How do I get rid of this awful 360 software?

Or as I said and have done, you can remove the 360 software using the guide on XDA forum without rooting your phone thus not invalidating your warranty with VF. Thats not to say you won't still have a warranty with HTC.

VF changed the T&C to not allow you to remove apps they forced on you and prior to this people were aware your could do it but VF refused to tell anyone how or provide an app.

So your stuck with it under T&Cs or use the guides on XDA forum, without rooting.

Which guide? There's no way of removing apps without rooting unless you use temproot but even then it's still changing the original ROM so unless I had it in writing from Vodafone that my warranty was intact I wouldn't be changing anything
