I've got an HTC Magic which has been running fine (well, apart from a few quirks) for the last 3 or 4 months.
However, in the last week something odd has happened. Since the donut update, I've been unable to make the screen go black by pressing the power button like I used to do; instead, I had to wait for the screensaver timeout.
Now, I can make the screen go blank but the security gesture screen doesn't appear when I press a button on the phone, so it's not secure anymore. Holding the power button no longer produces a menu of options - the only option that appears now is to switch off.
I haven't changed any of the settings.
The most important thing, though, is that in the last couple of days the phone no longer accepts incoming calls, diverting them straight to answer phone. I have cancelled any diverts by called ##002# which I found in another forum post, but now when I call the phone I just get an engaged tone. The phone, obviously, is not making any calls that I know of.
Do you have any ideas? The first couple of glitches I mentioned only as they might be related to the call problem - the phone does seem to have a mind of its own.
Please help!

My HTC HD2 crashed the other day after adding an mp3 file. It then dialled home itself !, couldn't turn it off and the buttons either didn't respond or worked VERY slowly. Had to take the battery out....came back fine.

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here
It sounds like something's definitely gone wrong since the donut upgrade. Have you tried performing a master reset on the device? Details of how to do this can be found on our HTC Magic Help page. If this is a software issue then this may resolve your issue.
Let me know how you get on

Hi I hope I'm in the correct forum, if not my apologies in advance,
I have a HTC Wildfire s and abut two months ago it downloaded a software update
all well and good -when it all rebooted I found an awful annoying "Ring" as a screensaver that wasnt there before the update, I have to pull/push the ring to be able to use the handset can anyone please advise me if I can get rid of this ?
I did a factory reset on the phone but it is still there and driving me crazy I fail to see the need for it as I can set my own security
setting on the screen myself
Thanks

Hi GERRY121VF,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the eForum!
It sounds like a recent software update has changed the screen lock on your phone to the current stock one. Android is a versatile operating system so if you're not a massive fan of the ring drag, you can always download a different one by searching 'Screen Lock' in the Play Store. I've just checked and there are hundreds of app results most of which are free.
Give it a whirl and let me know what you think! ![]()
Cheers, Ben
