Htc wildfire problems

I have had a wide range of problems with my HTC wildfire;

- slow internet

- When I send a text to someone it says that I've sent it to the desired person on the thread, but then it sends to another contact with out showing up in the conversation thread, this has been very embarrassing.

- At least once a day it will be entirely unresponsive for a minimum of 10 mins, sometimes turning off (when it has full battery), other times the lock screen freezes and doesn't work.

- When I'm trying to send a text to someone, I click on the previous thread of conversation we've had but it opens a different conversation, this happens atleast twice a day and will keep on happening for 2-10 mins.

- Always having to force close

- very slow at sending texts

- sometimes wont let me end calls as it is unresponsive

I have factory reset this phone various times, wiped all my data, I don't have any music as it slows the phone down. What else can I do?

Im really unhappy with this phone I have had it since late august last year and I'm on a two year contract. I desperately want to change phones but I can't afford to cancel the contract, any ideas of what I can do?

Thanks

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Exact same problems here - very frustrated with this phone - which is now becoming an expensive paperweight !

Re: Htc wildfire problems

I have also had the same problems! I have had this phone since May 2011, so I obviously have a long time to wait until I can end my contract. I would also appreciate details of the options available, as it is too expensive to pay off the contract and I am close to sending my phone off for repair a third time. It does not feel worth having this phone if it needs to be repaired every so often and I need to download my apps all over again.

Thanks, information would be much appreciated.

Laura.

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your post here.

Unfortunately unless you are within the last 90 days of your agreement we wouldn’t be able to upgrade your account or change the phone to a new make and model.

The first thing that we would need to do would be to send the phone away for another repair, if this still comes back with the same fault again we will then be able to escalate this and discuss your issue further in more detail.

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Have had exactly the same problems with mine, moreso in the cold weather. Now have more warning triangles of unsent texts on my phone.  It doesnt want to select the right text conversation, it freezes for no reason, the 3g spends more time turning itself off, even with good reception.  Won;t be getting another one of these.

Spoke to Webforum people who said I couldnt change the phone as not far enough into the contract, so very frustrated.  They offered to take it back for repair but this is not an option due to family illness issues.

So apparently no option but to buy a new handset of some description....not happy.

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Thank you for your reply....will have to wait until I can get into town to take it in the shop and keep fingers crossed they can sort it there, as sending it away is not an option.  Out of interest tho, (and in the hope I get a new handset for my birthday), is it possible to change the tariff to a Blackberry one?

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Ditto - exactly the same problems:

* slow messaging

* touching the screen to call someone and the phone ringing someone else on the list

*opening the wrong text messages repeatedly

* Also my alarm is also faulty now resulting in being late for an important work meeting yesterday, extremely embarrasing.

* Just generally awful after only 17 months and now stuck with the thing.

Fed up with this phone & contract, I told the person in the shop when I purchased that I wouldn't have a 24 month contract as the phones simply do not last that long, was assured I would be able to upgrade early.. and now the phone is broken and I am stuck with it.

I simply cannot be without my mobile - not an option.

Not good enough Vodafone. I will be looking to terminate and move elsewhere as soon as possible.

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Hi sueo61,

Thanks for your post about your HTC.

You won't need to change the price plan at all. You would however need the BlackBerry Internet Services adding to your account. This would cost an additional £5 per month though.

Hey Gema1802,

Thanks for your post too. I'm sorry to learn you've also been experiencing various issue with your handset. If sending the handset away top be repaired is not an option then the only thing we could look at would be an upgrade. Could you check your online account to see when your upgrade date is please?

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Lee,

I have already requested this and I am not allowed to upgrade my handset until something like Jun.

I have 2 handsets on this contract (other one is an iphone) so I would have hoped I would be a valued customer. The iphone was due for upgrade in early feb so was hoping to do it this way to get rid of the htc but when I looked back online in early Feb my 6 month upgrade has been moved to a 3 month upgrade so can't do anything now....

Thanks

Re: Htc wildfire problems

I HATE my Wildfire. I hate it with a passion.  I have been using mobile phones for 23 years now and this is by far the worst I have ever had the misfortune to be lumbered with.  I dream about it - I dream of smashing it with a hammer; I dream of hurling it against a wall and best of all I dream of sliding it under the wheels of a 36-tonner as it thunders past as I wait to join the dual carriageway nearby

I had an HTC Legend but sufferd horrendously from dropped signal and poor signal strength.  I was eventually allowed to swap it for a Wildfire but if I thought the Legend was bad then the Wildfire is execrable.  The slider bar to answer calls simply does not work most of the time.  I can stand there swiping my finger down the screen but to no avail as the call rings and rings and then switches to Voicemail.  If I get the call "answer" or "decline" buttons to press, I can tap "answer" again and again and again and then it will suddenly answer but, because i have tapped the screen so many times, it registers one of the additional taps but by now the "answer" button has been replaced by the "end call" button so the call is ended.

Sometimes when I pick the phone up to answer the call, the act of picking it up automatically cancels the call.

The phone keeps turning itself off for no apparent reason.

Playing music on it seems to be its bete noir as it crashes almost every time resulting in my having to remove the battery and restart it.

The volume control is far too easy to press without meaning to so frequently I miss calls because there is no ringtone.

I have not been receiving texts for the last couple of days and I know they have been sent because I have tested it with other people standing nearby.

There are other issues such as showing one contact on the recent calls menu but actually dialling a different one but i don't have that long to list all the issues with it.

Yes, I can upgrade but that means having to set up a new contract so it's not really a solution, just more money for Vodafone.

Simon

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Hi there supergenius,

Many thanks for your post about the state of your Wildfire. I'm really sorry to learn that you've had so many issues with it.

Tell me; which version of firmware/software are you running please?

Some of the issues have been addressed in more recent firmware upgrades. If you're nearing the end of your agreement then I'd like to check your upgrade options so I've sent you a private message which can be found here.

If you don't wish to upgrade then you will need to send the handset away for repair.

Cheers,

Re: Htc wildfire problems

Ive been having the exact same problems!! My phone freezes constantly, lags when it isnt frozen and if i manage to get an app open it will eventually force close. I miss atleast half of my phone calls because i cant unlock the phone and if i manage to unlock it it hangs up by itself straight away - (you might think i would be able to call them back, but shock horror, it wont let me do that either :@) I hate my phone, and hate it even more now that ive been told im stuck with it...I've just come off the phone, and basically been told i have to wait out the rest of my 24 month contract, pay the 18 months left which i was advised would be around £500 OR buy a new phone. I think if they are willing to sell and advertise phones like this, which are apparently causing problems for more than just me, they should be prepared to sort it immidiately and not brush it aside!

THANKS VODAFONE and HTC! ****

Re: Htc wildfire problems

I've a wildfire and trying to connect it to my BT car kit. It worked with a BMW serie1 for a couple of days and then suddenly, the bluetooth connection blocked regularly.

Having change the car to a VW Passat, same story, it worked for some days but suddenly connection has problems.

I've performed a soft reset but it didn't solved I've done a hard reset (proposal from HTC support) but issue is not fixed.

When I switch off, it works for the first connection and first call, then it's blocked and my phone says that it's deconnecting when I'm far from the car but it stays in that deconnecting mode for the rest of the day.

I also see that automatically my BT connection setup for phone and media even if I de-select the media connection.

Media connection comes back.

.. Any idea to help me?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Htc wildfire problems

I thought it was just me!! I hate my htc wildfire s - I cant answer calls as I am experiencing similar problems as mentioned earlier, you cant slide to answer. I have missed several very important calls this week alone. If I try and ring someone - well, its a guess as to who I may end up ringing - very frustrating.  I can be looking for a number in the "people" section and the next thing I know is it has dialled someone - and then you cant cut the call off.

I have had this phone since August last year on a 2 year contract, it has been back to the shop on almost a weekly basis, as I am certain that there is a fault with it, or even the phone in general, but the staff members (who must think - OMG here's that woman again!) , wont have any of it, they look at it, roll their eyes and tell me there is nothing wrong.

Vodafone, you need to address these issues - soon!! it certainly doesnt seem to be isolated to one person. I have been a customer of yours for as long as i can remember, there seems to be no loyalty or care from yourselves. Please help!!
