Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Last night I read through this entire thread with interest. I too have the afore mentioned problems with the signal and more so over the last few week. Pointless going over my experiences, as they mirror what has already been said. Those who have posted have been waiting for an end to the issues and an end they have received. Problem is the obvious cop out I would expect from Vodafone being that end.

Simon, with all due respect, this does not help me or the others. "the coming of spring" are you serious? It's laughable!

I could go on, but the obvious thing to us all is that the issues with the sensation are greater than Vodafone dare to admit. Over the years I have had so many issues with Vodafone, yet every year, like a fool, I renew my contract. However next time I will not. My contract has a long time left unfortunately.

If I do send my phone for repair and my problems persist, where do I stand? No doubt I will be stuck with a useless phone and there s not a thing I can do about it.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi danbann,

Thanks for your post.

Simon was only reiterating the feedback gained form the devices team. They have tested the device on a number of platforms, firmware versions and software versions and have not been able to replicate the issue you and others have reported to us.

This is why they have suggested the repair.

If the repair fails to rectify the issue then we will need to look at your options, but you've also not confirmed if you've upgraded your firmware recently either.

Let us know how the repair goes, should you decide to choose that route.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but 'Firmware' ?

I have synced my phone on my laptop and also searched for updates, which there are none available.

The following info I have found on my handset

Android Version 4.0,3

HTC Sense Version 3.6

Software number 3.32.161.11

Thanks

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi danbann

Thanks for your post here. Your firmware is the version of operating system on your phone. Much like Windows is on a PC.

You are currently running the latest version of the firmware so the repair option would be the best bet here.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

So if I do send my phone for repair and it returns doing exactly the same, what are my 'options', as stated my Lee???

[ Edited ]

Hello people.

I have registered to this forum specifically to comment on this thread.

Firstly may I just say that 'Tech Team' without meaning to insult you, but do you think we are stupid or what ??

I have an HTC Sensation I also have a Nokia C3 and my wife has iphone 4S. Put them on a table side by side and guess what,  Nokia full signal, iphone full signal HTC 3 sometimes as low as 2  Bars !! That my friends has jack ###### to do with the "coming of spring" but alot to do with the Sensation being a piece of junk. Luckily I bought mine and have a sim only deal with Voda, but it still doesnt resolve the issue. If you ask me the Sensation has so many flaws it is slowly becomming the most useless phone you could buy. Let me think, battery life is non existant, you cant use the phone outside because you cant see the screen, it suffers from random screen faults because of the stupid earthing problem on the case & just to cap it off you have to camp under a mast to get any signal !!

Sorry guys but I dont believe Vodafone has an answer because the answer (and it pains me to say it) is simply this.....the phone is riddled with design faults and the only way around it is to put your Sensation in the toilet and start again !!!

HTC are a company that churns out rubbish after rubbish. Look at all the complaints online about the One S & One X and they have only been out 3 weeks.....sure iphone etc have their problems but there millions more iphones our there than HTC's. Everybody I know who has an HTC says they wish they hadnt bothered, everybody I know who has an iphone says they will never change.

Sorry, rant over !!

Regards

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Just thought I'd look on this forum and see if others have this problem.

Interestingly my signal problems started about a month ago. I was getting no signal in areas that I used to (office and lounge at home). I called up a while back and was told to try the sim in another phone, by never got round to recharging an old phone.

Got so annoyed with it today as I'm struggling to get a stable signal driving through town now, that I called up again and was told that a signal problem had been highlighted in my area and that it should be resolved within the next 2 days.

In the meantime, Vodafone has given me a 50% reduction in my monthly tarrif next month due to the fact my problems have lasted so long........

Let's hope the signal strength actually does get better by the end of the week though...............all I want to do is make phone calls from my office which is located in my house in the middle of a big town!!!

I will update this later in the week.....

[ Edited ]

Well, well......I'm sitting in my office at home. The place where I used to get 2/3 bars of signal up until a month or so ago, when the signal dropped out completely.

After my chat with a vodafone rep yesterday and a confession that there is a signal problem in my area that they are working on, I can now confirm that signal strength is now back to what is was..........

Thanks vodafone.....it took two phone calls to you about this problem, but at least you have looked into it and resolved it swiftly!!!! I'll enjoy my 50% off next month's bill, as promised,  too.....

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your posts here.

We raised a query to our device team on the older firmware, but since this is now a new version of the firmware, I’m more than happy to raise this and have it looked into by them again.

We need you to post your full firmware version and confirm you are having problems with receiving signal when other phones are ok. Once we have a few examples of this, we’ll get it raised.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Wayne, if you look further back in the thread, I think you may find a colleague of yours has already said the same thing RE asking for examples, with the view to passing the info on. This thread has now seen countless examples, old and new firmware. So when you get the examples you need, you forward that on?, then another firmware version comes out and the whole process starts again? GROUNDHOG DAY...and a cop out.

Where do our rights come in to this Wayne?? the customers right!! or do we not have any??? We set on these contracts and seem to have little power when it comes to complaining! This is totally wrong and I will seek legal advice!!

I went into a local store with the same problems on a Desire and they changed the sim card. Unfortunatly for me, the member of staff was new and didn't transfer my Tel Numbers and as a result I lost every contact!! I have lost numbers I have collected over the last 8 or so years, most I cannot replace. As a gesture of good will they offered me a new handset/upgrade. Like a fool I chose this over the Galaxy!!! I'm now left with the worst phone imaginable and little contacts!!

I will not let this go and I'm reluctant to waste my time sending it in for repair. I have done this with my first deisre and it changed nothing. I would really appreciate a call from a manager, of some description, to call me RE my complaint!!

Thanks in advance

Danny

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi, I would just like to add my voice to all of the others complaining of no signal. I used to get signal upstairs at home but nowhere else.  Since coming back for Easter from uni I have no signal at all. If I turn the phone off and back on, I get a couple of bars of signal for a few minutes, and then that disappears and it's back to no signal.  Being forced to turn the phone off and back on whenever I want to send or receive texts is incredibly frustrating.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Mine did the same a few weeks ago. I spent the entire weekend with no signal and as you say, restarting it would fire it up for a while, but then would again die.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi Everyone,

I appreciate the frustration that not getting the signal you hope for on your phone can cause, but all we can do is investigate and react based on the results. We've done that and couldn't find any issue requiring further action.

We had a similar discussion a couple of years ago on the forum when we first started selling the iPhone 3GS. We collected examples based on feedback from customers and found no specific problems, but that's not to say you aren't suffering from individual issues.

Every handset is different when it comes to signal reception, so it's entirely possible that your Sensations don't work in the same way as your previous handsets have, but that doesn't mean there's an issue. The number of people reporting this, whilst substantial, is very low compared to the number of handsets in circulation, and there's very little discussion of this kind elsewhere on the web.

I know it won't help now you've got the handsets, but my best advice is to ensure you're completely happy with any phone within the seven day cooling off period, and consider returning it to us within that period if you're not completely satisfied.

I'm afraid that unfortunately, short of investigating again as offered, there's nothing else we can do. It is possible that your handsets could have developed faults, and you're welcome to send them away to us for a repair at any point in your contract as per Vodafone's warranty. Other than that, though, I think we have to draw this conversation to a close now.

Sorry,

Tom

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

So what about my previous question.........

If the repair doesn't work for me, what then???

My reason for asking is that I expect my phone to come back with the same problem. My reasons are that i'm on my 3rd HTC now.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

I like a lot of other users of the sensation phone have the same issue.  I'm running Android 4.0.3, HTC Sense 3.6, Software number: 3.32.161.11

I have spotted one thing though... when my signal drops out if I stop my Wi-Fi off (whether its connected to a access point or not) about 75% of the time my signal comes back...

Just thought I'd say this so other could give it a go!

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi danbann,

I'm sorry; it looks like we weren't alerted to your last post. Please accept my apologies.

If the replacement handset comes and it's the same then please let us know and we'll discuss your options. I have to advise you that we are under no obligation to replace the phone again. Our policy is to send any faulty handset for a repair.

Cheers,

Lee
