No signal on HTC sensation

Hi folks, just phoned vodafone but they're closed. I'm a new vodafone customer and just got my sensation today only to find that I get no signal at all either in my house or outside which is no use to me. Can I return the phone and cancel my contract and get my money back? I'm absolutely gutted, I checked the coverage map before I ordered and it seemed ok but in reality it's not.

My wife had the same problem with an iphone on o2 and they were fine about her returning it.

Cheers for any advice.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Is your sim activated? Do you have the new number? I had the samething advanced and needed my sim activated. Gothrough as if you are enquiring about an order. CS is useless.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Thanks for your reply. The sim is activated and I do have a number. I have been able to get a signal of 1 bar but it only lasted for less than a minute then went back to no service.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

This seems to be a similar issue to what I am experiencing, it was not happening at work but has been doing this since I have been at home.

Check for outages in your area, our local vf mast went down the day after my mum got her legend. They reimbursed her for time it was down tho.

@spiffy

You get a 7 day cooling off period on all new contracts so you should have no problems cancelling.

Hi spiffy

Welcome to the eForum :smileyvery-happy: it is always good to see new faces on here.

I am sorry to see that you don't get the signal on your phone at home.

Do you get signal when you are out and about? if so I would recommend the Sure Signal at home, as this will make sure that you get signal when you are at home.

If you don't get signal, or if you don't want the Sure Signal, you do get a 7 day return period, where you can cancel or even choose a different handset.

To do this please contact the returns team on 191, or 08700 191 191 from a landline phone.

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hi,

I'm also having big trouble with the HTC Sensation and signal issues.

Whilst I'm at work, I can see the signal bar regularly go from 3 bars, to no signal, despite the phone not moving at all.

I've been in contact with Vodafone support by email and they've said to send the phone back for repairs - but after seeing many other people suffering the same situation, and many have already had their phones replaced, I don't see this is going to help.

I've had the same handset since the launch date, so I definitely can't send it back now - and I honestly do not want to suffer this for 2 years.

I'm not at all interested in that Sure Signal device, I don't want something else connected to my home broadband, and what am I supposed to do when I'm out and about? I was in the middle of the village yesterday and I had no signal!

Post codes CB23 6DQ and NR13 5JB where I work, and where my family live are terrible. I had no signal at all when I was home last weekend.

Vodafone are definitely aware of this situation now, and I expect them to fix it. I also expect a form of compensation - since their coverage maps declare that signal is good in my areas, yet is obviously is not.

So I ask Vodafone - What are you doing to solve this issue for customers who are paying a lot of money for a service which is inconsistent?

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

@ Matt

Since there's no centralised thread for this issue I wanted to be sure there's another person with this issue.
I would like Vodafone to email everyone with the Sensation and say they acknowledge there is a fault and they are dealing with it.
Is this going to happen?

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

My chances might increase a bit if I actually played mind you :smileyhappy:

I keep meaning to look at similar forums for other providers, to see if this is a specific Vodafone issue - I don't recall seeing this raised in any reviews of the Sensation!

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

Hello

I have a htc sensation That has signal problems. I used to have a black berry and had no signal problems with this phone at all. After speaking to Vodafone they have swooped out and up graded my SIM card. Did not think this would do anything and it did not. Then they sent me out a Vodafone Sure Signal for working at home but was puzzled how this was going to help me when I am away from my Home office. And still i have very little signal and by swooping my SIM to my old phone I am getting good signal strength. And now looking on the Internet I can see it is not just me having these problems. Shame is a good bit of kit apart from it cannot function as a phone most of the time. Some needs to sort this problem out. Think i should have gone for the iPhone or stayed with my blackberry. P

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for all of the information that you have provided.

I have taken a look at this for you and can see that there has been a software update released earlier this month.

Please can you all check to see if you are running the latest version of 1.45.161.2 and let me know if you still experience the same signal issues?

Re: No signal on HTC sensation

I have similar problem. Whenever the reception became 'no service' it will not automatically detect the reception, even if I make it scan for network. It will then tell me that my sim card does not allow me to connect to the network. At the end, I have to restart my phone. I think it is ridiculous, although I like this phone very much. Has there been any solution yet?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for letting us know. Once we have 10 examples of people on the latest firmware experiencing this issue, we’ll forward it onto our devices team for further investigation.

Thanks
