HTC sensation signal problems

Ok after reading around and suffering badly for 2 months with my sensation which is missing so many important calls through signal dropping of completely.

I have been a long loyaly customer of voda for a long time and have 5 lines on my account and have never had signal problems in the past

Just having upgraded my lines to a 24 month contract to a sensation which is  totally unusable to keep in regular contact with work and family.

Id like to know what voda are going to do about it.

Thanks

Marc

Nothing. It's a problem they can't replicate, so therefore nothing will be done about it. I have offered for them to come out of their cosy repair shop to see the issues I am having, but they have been silent on that. So you can either sell your handset and buy something that works or just grin and bare it. VF won't do anything as they see it as a non issue.

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

Hi msdl28712,

Thank you for posting, I can understand your concern here. This issue had previously been mentioned to our devices team, however they've not been able to replicate it. As such, the likelihood is that there is a fault with your phone. As you're outside the first 7 days of purchase, we wouldn't be able to exchange the device for a different model, however we can certainly offer a repair under warranty. Just click the link for details of how to arrange this.

Kind Regards,

George.

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

OK I'll bite at this.

So hypothetically speaking I send my phone for repair it comes back and nothing has changed. What happens here? Do I then send it back and you “repair” it again and again and again?

How long does this process go on? At what point is something constructive done about it? I am at the stage now that I know the areas that the phone doesn’t work so I just accept it, but I really shouldn’t so I think it’s about time to send my phone back t the dreaded repair shop.  Having had a phone away for over 1 month I’m not over optimistic about the process.

Hi Guys,

As this is not affecting every HTC Sensation then there is two things that we need to do to begin with this issue.

1. Get a SIM change from your local store or online as an older SIM can sometimes cause connection issues with the newer smart phones.

 2. Send the phone away to be repaired as it could be a fault with the phone that is causing this.

If you have done both of these and you are still having issues, please let me know so we can raise this further for you.

God lord! You must get some c rap sim cards from somewhere. I must get a new one every six months.  Everytime I'm in store they blame the sim card when I explain I had it changed not long ago "maybe it was a faulty one" was the reply.

I will be sending  the phone back this month and I dont want a reflash of firmware as that is deemed as a suitable repair. I'm quite capable of doing that myself, I want a phone that works is that too much to ask of VF!

Downloaded no signal alert, 3 times today its logged a signal lost event.

So the reply was..... " Hello Blinkie   Thank you for writing back to Vodafone Customer Services. I apologize for the inconvenience caused in this matter. I checked the services in the area (AB** ***) and can confirm that 2G services are excellent but 3G service is variable. I'd request you to select the 2G network. This can be confirmed on our website as well by clicking on the link below:  http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/network-and-coverage/uk-coverage-map/index.htm  Enter the postcode and click on 'Check Coverage' button.  As you are unable to use services, I recommend that you try to follow the steps for hard Reset: * Switch off your phone * Remove the battery * Remove the SIM card * Clean and keep it for 1 minute. * Insert the SIM card * Insert the battery * Switch on the phone. Please try this multiple times. If you are still unable to use the services on your phone, I request that you visit the nearest Vodafone store and give your SIM and handset. The official at the store would check the phone and help you further with this. If the problem persists, I would request you to insert the SIM into another handset to check if the handset is faulty. If you still face a problem, I would request you to go for a SIM replacement as it might be that the SIM might have some fault. I trust this information is helpful for you." No not really! I want to send this away for repair as it does not work at a phone should. Why should I use 2G, paying for a service that im not getting. if the 3G signal is bad in my area I should been advised of this.

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

I am using the ICS leak and while it isn't recommended for users unfamiliar with software that will break, the battery monitor does note that it barely loses a signal ... so it might be worth just haning on a little longer. (feb?)

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

Well it's taken 4 days of emails to get VF CS to send me an envelope to send the phone back, however it will take 7-8 days for it to arrive to me! Where is it coming from? Not impressed so far.

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

Hi All,

I posted about the Sensation here ages ago, and all responses from Vodafone members were useless.

When I'm in an area with low reception quality, I don't get any signal at all. At the moment my phone hasn't had a signal for about half an hour, which is why I'm on here (again). So what if Vodafone can't replicate the error, simply look on the internet and you'll see plenty of evidence that there IS a problem, but they're ignoring their customers. I'm NOT renewing my contract and would happily leave NOW if I could afford it!

A "ix" was to set the network to GSM only, instead of WCDMA preferred. This helps to maintain a stable signal, but not if the signal isn't strong. I've tested my SIM in the Samsung G SII and it worked perfectly all over the place. So, it's not the SIM card.

I've also had a "replacement" handset (basically the delivery woman had the basic phone in a bag, no shell, no battery, no box, no cables) so I believe I now have someone elses repaired phone, which means I'm now paying a monthly premium for a 2nd hand phone.

I've emailed Vodafone Support, and I've spoken to them on the phone. All I get is:

1) Do a hard reset

2) Replace the SIM

3) Change the handset

4) Go to 1.

I'm extremely fed up with my phone, I don't even use the internet when the sky is visible because there is no point. Which means half the functions of the phone I intend to use are disabled. My rights to an item state it should do the job it's intended to do, but Vodafone are ignoring me simply because they can't (won't) replicate the issue themselves.

This has turned into a con, and I'm confident I am not the only one who feels like this.

And for all the Vodafone members, you can start writing the "I'm sorry" email, but just stop. Don't say anything unless it's going to aid us in solving this issue.

Thanks.

Gavin.

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

Just do what I did. Tell Vodafone to cancel your contract as the phone does not is faulty and you want  a refund as per the "sale of goods act". I did this after many months of heartache.

Vodafone's reaction was to offer me a different phone and I have now got a fantastic Samsung Galaxy S2 and have no problems at all.

Here are some of my emails....

Hello Preeti

Well, I am sorry to say this but you have only answered about one third of my original questions, and what you have answered is just a cop out.

I have already visited three stores and they agree that the reception is poor. But, they just want to send the phone away without giving me a replacement. I am paying £35.00 per month for a product that does not work. It is not damaged, the problem is due to a design fault and Vodafone and HTC know this.

Now, can you please answer my original questions with regards to refunds for a faulty phone and for the time spent without a phone if it is sent away. I hope I get a quick reply and I don't have to send another reminder  like I had to do today. To be honest this is very shoddy support and I am disgusted with your reply.

Hi Vijay

This is such a sad reply. Do you think I would pay £555.43 to cancel a contract on a phone that does not work correctly? This reply is yet another insult to a Vodafone customer. I actually have the proof now that the HTC Sensation has a serious signal problem, which shows that you are supplying goods that contravene "Sale of Goods Act". You have also got the worse customer services of any company that I have ever dealt with.

NOTE - I WILL NOT PAY £555.43 UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I await your reply

Regards

Re: HTC sensation signal problems

Hi,

Yes - my partner has the S2 and whereas I feel like the build quality on the Sensation is superior, I think I'd much prefer to have a phone that actually WORKS.

I'm going to be sending a letter to Vodafone tonight which includes about 30 pages of emails to and from their customer services department which consistently ask me to hard reset etc etc.

You are correct, this does contravene the sales of goods act, and I'm definitely going to get a replacement.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is appalled at the behavior of Vodafone. I don't see any means they can justify themselves.

Thanks for the information.

Gavin.
