Not Happy with my HTC Sensation!

Hi,
I got my HTC Sensation in July, I upgraded from a BlackBerry Bold.
Straight away I noticed how much the Sensation would heat up, but so much so it was almost unbearable to use. Then all these little problems started kicking in, like the touch screen wouldn't work properly, the battery dies when it feels like it - even if I've not used the phone, particularly when I'm in work. When I come off my dinner the phone has almost full battery, when I finish work 3 hours later the battery is almost dead and the phone's boiling hot!
Then a couple of days ago I couldn't make outgoing calls, it would ring once then cut off and say there was a Network Error. I rang Vodafone to see if this could be fixed and was given instructions over the phone how to fix it, it now works but only if i keep it at a setting which means my internet is really rubbish on my phone. So I now have to switch between 2 settings depending on what I want to use my phone for.
While on the phone to Vodafone last night I was told it's "normal" for the phone to heat up so much, it's a common problem with HTC Sensations. So today I rang back just to check it was common for it to be so hot I can barely use it, I was told it wasn't and could be sent away for repair. I was also informed that as I've had the handset since July I can't exchange it :s
If this is a common problem for these phones, why are they even on the market?
Does anyone know if there's someone I can contact directly about this, if I ring 191 I usually get someone pretty unhelpful.
Thanks

It sounds like there's a rogue application which is causing the processor to stay at full power which is causing the phone to heat up and kill the battery, I'd have a good look at what is running in the background.
