Problems Answering HTC phone

  Hi All,

Whenever I receive a call on my HTC Wildfire S phone, I carefully try to unlock it by sliding my finger up the screen (there is a ring/circle you move up the screen). but two option often appear at the button of the screen, one of which is sending an "im busy" text message.

Is there any way to alter this, its only there for a split second everytime, so its hard to see what it says, but basically I keep cutting my calls off, and its getting annoying.

Even going slowly and carefully this often happens, its not like im rushing.

   Many Thanks

Mark

Hi redskins1791

Thanks for your post here. I’ve just had a look at the phone and I can’t see anyway of changing this I’m afraid. :smileysad:

Please let us know if you need anything else though and we’ll be happy to help you further.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

I have the exact same problem as redskins1791.

It's really frustrating.

Often when I slide the unlock ring to answer an incoming call, the call is rejected with the option of sending the caller an automatically-generated SMS message explaining that "I'm busy right now. I will call you later".

To me it seems pretty random whether the phone lets you answer a call or whether it rejects the call and creates this text message.

Is there a way you can swipe the phone during an incoming call to avoid this problem?

My phone is an HTC Wildfire S with Android version 2.3.5.

Incidently, however much you try and discard this auto message once it has been created, the message hangs around as a saved draft on the SMS conversation with the relevant contact.

I was wondering if anyone might have any suggestions.

It's kind of ironic having a smartphone which you can do loads of things with but not actually answer a call.

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi there billbell73,

Thanks for your post about this.

I've checked and there's no way to change this feature.

You may be able to delete the reject messages though...

On my Android I have the ability to edit the messages. To do this please follow these steps:

Phone

Menu

Call settings

Set reject messages

Tap the message and edit away

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Glad to see I'm not the only person who has problems receiving calls. Maybe it's just because I don't receive that many calls on my mobile, but I often end up cutting off calls as I try to answer them - particularly if I'm in a rush. This causes much frustration all round...

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Is there an answer to this problem?

I have a Wildfire 'S' and it's almost impossible to answer an incoming call without cutting the caller off. I sent an email to HTC through their heip page and I've not received a reply.

I soke to Vodafone support about another matter and the assistant suggested it may be a software issue and I should update to the latest release. It was only when the call ended that I remembered that I get automatic updates when connected through wifi so I'm running the latest software.

This is my first and last HTC that's for sure. I'm counting the days for my contract to end! Not a rant, I just want a solution to be able to answer the phone.

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi Davej,

At the moment there doesn't appear to be a solution to the problem, it's something that HTC would release a software update for if a fix were to become available though so keep checking.

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply. I'm sure you'll agree that this isn't very satisfactory? Is there anything Vodafone can do e.g. bring my renewal forward? The earliest I can update is March 25th and I've had this issue for long enough already.

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Thanks Jenny, I've just tried logging into my account and a problem I've posted about in another thread has re-occured;

Unable to render /framework/skeletons/vodafoneDefault/head.jsp

I'll try again later or by using Firefox.

[ Edited ]

Someone tried to call me today but I cut them off when I tried to answer - how ironic is that? :smileylol:

I texted (Amanda) back with an alternative number to call me on but no call. There's always tomorrow...

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

I also have this problem. From the happy responses of other users, it sounds like there is something available to help - will this be rolled out to everyone in an update, or who should I contact to get my handset fixed?

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi er224,

At the moment, there's no fix that we're aware of for this, and if one is released by HTC it'll be pushed out in an update.

We've been able to help other phone users in some circumstances but this is looked at on a case by case basis.

I've sent you a PM with instructions on how to contact the team, follow these and we'll be in touch as soon as we can to see what we can do for you

You can find your PM inbox here

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi ger,

I wouldn’t recommend trying to answer your phone in the rain as it may lead to water damage. That said, which phone do you have? Do you have the latest version of the software on the phone? If you do, the next step that I’d recommend is to do a factory reset (remember to back up your data first) and see if it resolves your query.

If, after trying the above, you’re still having difficulty answering your phone, I’d suggest you send it for repair.

Thanks

Andrew

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi Andrew

The phone is an HTC Wildfire S. Running the latest updates.

I am experiencing the exact same problem (cutting folk off when I try to answer phone) as the Op.

The rain is'nt an issue Andrew, I was just highlighting how useless the phone is,even the smallest speck of rain on the screen affects the phone operation, ie.. random apps open by themselfs.

When i first got the phone (16 months ago) it was working fine,I think the problem started after an update, the update that put that 'pull down ring' onto my screen.  :smileyindifferent:

Thanks.

Re: Problems Answering HTC phone

Hi ger,

Unfortunately the only thing that we can suggest is to send the phone away for a free of charge warranty repair so that an engineer can asses this.
