Problems with the Wildfire S

I bought a Wildfire S last week, only to find that it wouldn't settle on a signal for more than a few seconds at a time. Returned it to the store today and got a replacement as it was obviously a hardware fault. All fine and dandy - the signal on the replacement phone is great - I even managed to make it work a few times, so I thought it was sorted. Now, however, a matter of two hours or so later, I can't make or receive calls or texts, and there's no sign that GPRS or 3G or anything is working at all. I can't even ask it what my number is as any attempt to request it using *#100# results in a message saying "Connection Problem or invalid MMI code". Having checked, the signal strength is -97 dBm 7 asu, and the phone tells me that the Mobile network type is HSDPA. My settings, on the other hand, tell me that the mobile network is 'turning on', so it's not actually on yet. Is this a software issue, and can it be solved without me having to have a third replacement phone? Please help! Thanks.

Re: Problems with the Wildfire S

Just a quick update - the problem seems to only occur when I'm at home. I took the phone into the office today and found that it worked absolutely perfectly. Made calls, connected to the internet, sent texts - no problems whatsoever. Came home, and found that it has a perfect signal, but can't make/receive calls. Would this suggest that there's a problem with the vodafone antenna in my area?

Re: Problems with the Wildfire S

Hi chakas_mum,

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.

I must admit that it does sound like a network issue in your local area rather than a handset fault, especially given that the handset works fine at your work location.

With this said I have taken a look at your local area which has been taken from the postcode that you have provided in your eForum profile and can see that there is currently an issue with your local site (33378).

I have taken a look into this further for you and can see that it has been raised to our engineers under reference 2188424 for investigation.

From what I can see on the reference, our engineers have been out to the site and are currently in the process of repairing the fault, unfortunately we don’t have an ETA on this as of yet however, I will request for this to be added to our faults board so you can keep an eye on it for any updates.

James

Thanks for the response, James. I'll keep tabs on the faults board. It's definitely not the phone, because I'm using it to post this reply!
