A few weeks ago I upgraded from an F700 to the Genio Slide. Great phone.

The issue I'm experiencing is that it receives multiple copies of the same text message. This doesn't happen all the time, and the affected messages are not all from the same sender. I'm sitting at the same desk at work, and the phone sits on the same table at home, so there's been no change to the signal. But I'll sometimes receive the same message up to five or six times.

I'm not knowlegeable enough about GSM, but it perhaps seems that the phone is not "acknowledging" that it has received the message?

Check your software version, I seem to recall that the Genio had this problem and was fixed with a software update.

-Touch Keypad
-Enter *#1234#.

Have checked the Vodafone firmware upgrade webpage and there's nothing listed for this device.

Similarly I have checked the Samsung site and it also shows no firmware update for this device.

I have checked our list of approved software versions and it does appear that you are on the latest software version available for the Genio Slide.

What I have done is raised this issue to the device team who will investigate and look into a fix.

As an extra "feature" to the issue, I'm finding some repeats that turn up 1, 2 or even 3 days after the original text.

Just received the same text for the 12th time in four hours!

Is this a generic firmware fault on the Genio Slide, or an issue with my particular phone?

Hi todj,

I appreciate that must be very annoying for you.

I'm afraid until the device management team get back to us we will be unable to diagnose the issue. Clearly something is wrong either with the handset or your number on our network. We are aware and looking into this for you.

The only thing I can think of to resolve this for you would be to reset the phone back to its original settings as I have never heard of this happening on other Genio Slides.

I looked in our Help center and have found the process for this, firstly ensure you back up your photos, videos, music and contacts. To do this connect the phone to your computer and you can simply drag and drop the files you want to save.

Touch Menu
Touch Settings
Scroll to and touch Reset settings
Touch Select all
Touch Reset
Enter the password, touch Confirm.

Then reconnect to your computer and restore the files you saved earlier. Your phone should now be in perfect factory order and hopefully the problem will have fixed itself.

Please let me know how you get on with this.

I've been letting things run for a few days. Sadly, the Reset hasn't resolved the issue.

The phone has now taken to rebooting itself part way through calls, so I think I've got a wrong 'un. I've had to resort to using an old device.

Repair or Replace/Swap. How do I go about these?

From the sounds of it the device is faulty, and I agree sending it off for a Repair would be the next step.

I am also experiencing this problem. I have now had a replacement Genio Slide sent to me, and it continues to send duplicate messages - the most I have counted being 16 from one person!

I have the same problem, getting most text messages at least 3 times but sometimes up to 10 times. When sending texts they send at least twice and when uploading photos to Facebook etc they upload at least twice.

I've checked my firmware:

B5310ACIL4
B5310VODIL1

I've done a full reset and still have the problem.

Just throwing an idea out of the park here... But has your friend (the one that you keep getting the texts off) had an issue with their signal or when sending it at all? I tend to get repeated texts especially when an MMS fails to send.

Phone has been away for repair.

It has been back a week. Firmware is still the same as before it went:-

And the multi-delivery of texts issue still remains.

The device is pretty much useless - is there any way I can exchange it for some other model of phone that has a slide-out keyboard? Pretty please?

Had a long chat yesterday with customer services, they had a look at this thread and have agreed to exchange the handset for something equivalent. I've opted for the Nokia N97 Mini as I do like a query keyboard.
