Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Hi Nataliejane,

My apologies I meant to type PC not PM (I have big fingers) :smileywink:

@ cjm1979, thanks for the suggestion on this one, it’s always good to have another users experience on these threads.

@ Nataliejane,  please keep us updated with how you get on with the phone, if it does continue to reboot or crash then please let me know so we can look at this for you.

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Hey guys,

Well, after a few factory resets, the phone still has problems, it goes to a black screen and won't turn on or charge regularly, goes stupidly slow just changing screens, freezes whilst typing or acts as if I have pressed one character multiple times, and crashes regularly. At the weekend I couldn't pick up calls or make calls because of the time delay in doing anything. The ringtone was even ringing at half speed!

I hasten to add that the problem comes and goes and factory resets don't work for long at all before it crashes - I have even left it with no apps installed but it still failed before long.

I need the phone to be reflashed asap please. How do I go about this and how long does it take please? Could you also confirm that it won't come back only having a factory reset done as I have done this several times myself.

Thanks

Nataliejane.

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

I asked the same question to Vodafone customer service because I too have experianced a lot of problems since the update.

They told me that if I go to any Vodafone store they can install the previous version of Android back on the phone while you wait. Since my nearest Vodafone store is about a 25 minute drive I tried to phone them to verify. But no store numbers are published on the internet and Vodafone Customer service could not supply me a number for ANY store.

Strange for a Telecom company don't you think?

So, I still havn't verified if this is possible or not. If there is one near you, give it a try and let us know how you get on.

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Hi Playtoe, Thanks for the information - mods, can you verify if this is the case please? If this is the case, I will jump at the chance to get gingerbread back, or even ice cream sandwich reflashed to see if it was the update that went wrong (I noticed on the htc one x, it says that when you do an update you shouldn't have it plugged in due to it causing problems with the update - interesting as I always have plugged mine in, and the update took a couple of hours so I think it went wrong) I really need to get it sorted ASAP as it keeps restarting and goes from being a normal phone to being non functional and taking forever just to type a character or switch screens.

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Only way you can go back is to first change to S-OFF (using the hack guides on XDA) and then flash the older build back onto the phone. Technically this breaks the warranty so proceed with caution

Oh, in that case then it isn't something I would consider. I just need the phone to be reflashed as the problems I'm having are ridiculous.

Not even Vodafone can reflash it. HTC may be able to, though

Mmm, hopefully one of the tech team will respond soon as they advised me earlier in the thread that it sounded like it needed reflashing so I need to know that they will actually get this done.

Edited to say that it was in another thread I was told to get my phone reflashed around the same time as this thread started.

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Hi Nataliejane,

It does indeed sound like your phone needs sending to the repair centre to test the components of the motherboard for any faults as well as get a flash on the software. You can do this via ourselves instore or over the phone or via HTC directly. I've sent you a private message with details on how to email my team to get this sorted. You can find your PM inbox here. :smileywink:

Cheers, Ben

Re: Sensation non functional after ICS update!

Hi guys,

Thanks Ben for organising my return - when the paperwork arrived for it though, it said it was a charging fault! No mention of any of my actual problems with it so I had to write them all down which I wasn't impressed with.

Anyway, phone came back and was ok initially, but just like every time I have done a factory reset, it is having the same problems again - it has restarted 3 times already today and is intermittently very very slow in responding to typing etc.

These are exactly the same problems I had before so it hasn't been fixed.

I'm really not happy and want a replacement handset as I don't want to be on a constant cycle of sending the phone back and then it breaking again within a few weeks.

Cheers

Nat
