Hi, just got my HTC Magic. Does anyone have any idea of the settings I need to input to access my Sky email account?

Simple solution would be to auto forward your email form your sky account to your newly created googlemail account. This would have the added benefit of meaning that you no longer have to rely on a ###### ISP specific email account, and can access your email from any computer and your phone.

You can also find the settings for sky in help or options when you access your sky email through their website, if you want to set it up on the email part of the phone

I did try that but couldn't get it to connect. Have managed to set up forwarding which will be fine as long as I remember to keep emptying the inbox!

Hi loftus and welcome to the eForum

I'm really glad you've managed to get this working :)

Thats the great thing about the HTC Magic! Due to it having the Android operating system it works so seamlessly with GoogleMail!

Let me know if you have any more questions and we'll be more than happy to help you

Thanks

Well I re-entered the settings from the Sky website and it seems to work intermittently. I also have forwarding to my gmail account activated so its a belt and braces job.
One thing - anyone know if its possible to delete an email account. I did think about just going with the forwarding only but can't get rid of the Sky email settings - I delete them but they just keep coming back!

Hi Loftus

I can't seem to find a delete option on there! Very strange! I would go with a Master Reset of the device to wipe all of the information. Don't forget to back up all of your information though.

The great thing about Google is that it isn't strictly forwarding that occurs when your emails go into your Gmail account. The Gmail account checks your or email account for emails and pulls them. Then inturn pushes them to your device! So its all managed by Gmail...Brilliant!

Let me know if you have any more questions :)

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Loftus

Don't know if you have manged to get Sky emails working on its own yet, but I had the same issue when I got my Magic a couple of weeks ago.

I thought I had followed the instructions on the Sky web site to the letter but I forgot to tick the security settings which once ticked enabled me to put in the detaisl required and it works fine now.

20. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box next to This Server Requires An Encrypted Connection (SSL). This port should change to 995 for POP3. If not, enter this number manually.
21. For the Outgoing server, change the port to 465.
22. Select SSL in the drop down menu next to Use the following type of encrypted connection.

Thanks for that Yorkie. I worked it out eventually and got it working, however I found it would download emails but half the time they would disappear before I had a chance to open them!
I don't have a huge amount of emails to contend with so settled on forwarding them all to my gmail account which works fine for me.
