Totally disgusted with Vodafone and HTC

So, after 20 months of misery with my HTC HD mini, cutting out on calls all the time, not sending or recieving MMS messages and constantly freezing and crashing, the day came yesterday when my phone finally decided that it would no longer accept my PIN so i am now unable to access my phone, I cant get any photos, contact details or text messages. The is no way I have the PIN incorrect, it worked fine one second, then would not unlock the next.
Vodafone Tech Support are unable to 'red box' my details, they could only recomment a hard reset, which loses all the data on my phone. HTC also for some unknown reason are not able to get into a phone, and also can only perform a hard reset.
So, you would think that a loyal Vodafone customer would be able to just buy a handset, pay as you go, accept that the data is lost and then move forward with a new phone. Nope, if you want a pay as you go then you have to purchase £20 of pay as you go airtime??? I dont want the credit, I pay every month for my contract, I just want a phone so that the contact I'm paying for has some use to me. But no, vodafone dont think that, after supplying a totally (and this is where I want to swear) rubbish handset, vodafone who have NEVER been able to assist with the call or text issues in the 20 months I've had the phone now will not even offer a pay as you go handset with out the obligitory PAYG credit charge. Well, there is some great customer service.
So, not only have I lost all my information, contacts, important messages and photos (it never crossed my mind to back this up, as I didnt realise a phone could go so badly wrong), I've also had to pay out not only for a handset that will actually work, but also money for credit that I wont even be able to use?????
Would I buy a window phone again? NEVER
Would I buy an HTC phone again? NEVER
When my contact ends in 4 months, will I be upgrading with Vodafone? Well, considering they obviously have absolutely no regard for me as a customer, it seems highly unlikely. What a shame over 10 years with a this company it ends in such a shambolic & disappointing fashion.

Hi ball82,
I'm sorry to read through your post at the struggles you've had. Have you managed to get a repair prior to this happening with ourselves or HTC if this has been such a long standing issue? My team will be happy to explore options for you if you're after a new phone a little ahead of the normal 75 days upgrade window. To reach us, simply follow the instructions I've sent to you via Private Message. You can find your PM inbox here. ![]()
Our Pay As you Go phones are heavily subsidised by the network which is why they require a credit top-up with them. We can also look at the cost of an unsubsidised unit if you'd prefer, but I can understand fully if this may not be the most favourable route for you.
Cheers, Ben

Your photos should be on an SDcard inside the phone so should be recoverable (as listed here: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd_mini-3163.php)

Hi,
If you plug in you handset to a computer and backup the entire contents of the phone to a hard drive or flash drive....you can then do a hard reset and transfer all the contents backed up back to the phone......I too have had probs with my HTC Desire HD and reception problems at night and calls being dropped, so i can understand your frustration
