Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Hi all,

Does anyone know if Vodafone is working on a "My Account" application for android that we can use to check our minutes and other account-related information? This would be similar to the T-Mobile "My Account" app as described at http://bit.ly/1FLGaj

Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Hi Jan. and welcome to the eForum :)

Thats a really great idea! As far as I am aware there are no plans for Vodafone to create any Apps for the Android as most have already been created for most tasks that people need. However I will feed this back as something that our customers are asking for and you never know!

Thanks again and if you have any more questions then just let us know and we'll be happy to help

Cheers

Wayne

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Hi ben1390,

There's no confirmation at this time regarding the release of an Android version of My Vodafone, I'm afraid.

It's a common question, so I'm sure that if anything changes you'll see it mentioned on the eForum pretty quickly, though!

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

I was told by one of your guys over the phone (won't mention name in case it gets him into trouble) that Vodafone IS working on such app but there were some problems with servers. You also had to pull iPhone app from the market because of that. Could you confirm that this info is correct?

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

I'd suggest VF won't ever do this. It was suggest over a year ago on the various HTC forums and while the mods on the forum agree with end users its a good idea VF have done nothing with it. They just repeat the line you can check on your account online. Oh unless you have a iPhone and then VF will write you an app.

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

I would like to think that there would be a MyVodafone app released, similar to the iphone one, considering the popularity of Android and the range of phones it is available on. Vodafone aren't stupid, they've proven that by being around from the beginning and still being here.

Is there a BlackBerry version yet also?

Either way, admittedly they are a bit slow, and whether anyone is going to say that there is or isn't one in production, I would find it extremely hard to believe that there isn't.

My thoughts :-)

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Hi guys,

I may well be the advisor who commented on the likelihood of an Android version a year ago - I remember doing so quite frequently, so don't think I'm against it at all.

Like most updates or releases, we don't get much information either way until the time comes. Given the success of the iPhone version I'd expect something similar for the other main Mobile OS, but we can't say for sure if anything is on the way, in development, in planning or just a twinkle in a developer's eye.

To show you that things you guys ask us on the eForum do get passed on, if you haven't checked My Account recently, you'll see that your unbilled usage now includes data on the new graphical layout - not unlike the iPhone app - so no more arduous calculations of data use!

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Hi Dave. Long time no post :-)

Just happened upon your post, which I read with interest.

However.... Just gone into my account which states "Data  We dont have any information on your data allowance". So there is no information showing..

Wonder if you are fully aware of this?

Maybe it is because I have UDP?

Cheers

Hi kevinx,

It's possible - it may also show this if you've updated recently whilst the pro-rata period is cleared.

I have seen it in action, so I do know it works. If you want uis to take a look and see what's happening with yours, let us know!

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Will do Dave. I'll be in touch.

There's no doubt that it may work for SOME.. A while ago, I recall, SOME people were able to get the data used figure on their phone, via 44555, yet others (including me) were NOT able to get that information, but only text/mms and voice.

I'll check it out every so often, until I get bored, then I'll drop you a mail so that it may be further investigated perhaps.

PS/ The "recent" update to the 44555 service is rather a sweet development, but will that again (in due course) include data usage??

Cheers

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Working fine on contract SIMs but for 3 PAYG VF sims it reports we aren't using VF sims.

Can a VF mod confirm if this works on VF payg sims please ? Or if we get this false message how we resolve it ? Thanks

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

NX3,

This MAY be totally irrelevant, but something I'll share for others.. (I believe it SHOULD work with PAYG).

Yesterday when I downloaded (over WiFi) the application, it downloaded fine. When I then ran the application it kept telling me "You are not using a vodafone SIM". "To join Vodafone contact via the web, or call into a Vodafone store". Derrrrr, WHAT.... I've been with Voda for about 20 years!! The SIM IS a Vodasim. What's going on??

I then uninstalled the app, and reinstalled it (again over WiFi). STILL the same result  :-(  Must be a dodgy app, getting fed-up now!

Couldn't call customer service, as no signal :-(. Once I became mobile, I called cust service, and they gave the standard response "You'll need to hard reset your device" (they actually meant for me to remove battery, remove SIM, insert battery, boot up (without SIM), remove battery, replace SIM, replace battery, bott up).. Well, couldn't do that as I was driving, and then something happened....

The proverbial "penny dropped".. When I downloaded, and installed the app (over WiFi) it worked fine, but THEN informed me I was "not using a Vodafone SIM"... Mmmm. BECAUSE MY SIM COULDN'T "SEE" THE NETWORK - Remember, "No service" Dohhhhh.

Got to another location, clicked to run the application, and it was fine!!  :-)  (Silly me! - Understatement!!)  :-)

So, ensure one has signal coverage to actually run the programme for the first time. Simples  :-)

PS As a result, it does NOT show my data usage, neither does it on-line as it happens, so I uninstalled the application, favouring 44555 instead.

Cheers

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

One thing that I should really point out is this..

If it works in the same way as the iPhone version, you'll need to connect to My Vodafone using MOBILE INTERNET first, so that it can register your details. Works fine on WiFi afterwards :smileyhappy:

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

I downloaded over wifi on contract sim and the app gave me a message to say that to confirm its me connect the first time via 3G. I did, it works.

The payg sims just report a message that you don't have a VF sim, they don't mention verifying over 3G. I will try this solution though so thankyou, perhaps VF need to release 1.1 with a better error message.

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

Ok I've tried on PAYG via 3G and it still reports its not a VF system, rebooted the phone etc..... the app is clearly flawed for PAYG customers. Can a VF mod please feed that back to vf app development ?

Re: Vodafone "my Account" App For Android

No update from VF on why it doesn't work for PAYG customers ? Sim only, 12 month contract users have the same issue, your not using a VF sim.
