Afternoon All,
I have downloaded an app called I-music which lets you download and listen to MP3's.
This sounds too good to be true - is this legal? Surely they couldn't release such an app if it was illegal?
I have also read on one of the reviews that it could give my lovely magic a virus?!?! :@
Is this true? I have seen some virus software on the market but the reviews just say that it does nothing but run in the background?
I have also noticed some folders on my SD card from apps i've unsinatlled - am I ok to delete these and should they be there?
Sorry for all the Q's!
Jason

Hi Jason,
Thanks for posting.
I recommend you contacting the developer for more inforamtion about this app. I haven't tried it on my Magic, but after reading your post, I'd be somewhat sceptical about putting it on there in the first place.
If you're unsure, you can always uninstall. I'll leave the topic open and hopefully another Magic user will be along shortly to offer some assistance.
Cheers,
LeeH

Given that it has already been downloaded over 50,000 times, I don't see how it would be a virus and still be available on the market.

Hi Jason!
I've tried this Imusic app and i can confirm thats it does provide a download service that maaayy be on the wrong side of the law! Its essentially a search engine to find mp3's from websites. Im not sure how this could be traced but im guessing it wouldnt be any harder than tracing someone who uses their pc to illegally download, so use with caution!
As for getting a virus, its not different from the risks when using torrents or p2p software (like ares/limewire/morpheus etc) on your pc, if you download a dodgey file it could have unwanted effects.
So my advice...if you choose to use the app, be careful what you download!

Sorry I wasn't very clear in my post.
Like th34sak3n says the app is a search engine so you are downloading from many different sites.
I meant that could the files you download contain a virus rather than the app itself.
Uninstall FTW
Cheers
