As a happy HTC Desire HD owner, i am concerned at this recent news."Massive Security Vulnerability in HTC Android Devices, exposing phone numbers, GPS, SMS, Email adr...
I have contacted HTC but recieved no responce regarding how to fix this issue. I am hoping Vodafone may have a solution rather than rooting the deivce. I know no device will be 100% safe, but this exploit is extremely easy for anyone with very little knowledge to utilise in their favour.

You are entitled to your opinion but i see it as incompetent of HTC. "Oh, yes, let's make all sorts of data available to anyone who connects to a port on localhost". Which is very easy to do via any rougue app on the android market. There have been a view of them recently, but thank fully Google has jumped on them quickly. It would have been quite easy to write their snooping system relatively safely; this is negligent.
What i am after is some way to disable these logger.apk without rooting. I am aware data will be exchanged, but i thought most companies would at least do it in a secure manner.

That HtcLogger.apk is ONLY in the newer phones, it's not on the Desire HD, nor the original Desire. It IS in the Sensation (I remove it along with a ton of other pointless apps in my own ROM) but at the end of the day if you install an app then you're responsible for it. I only use a handful of apps and ONLY use official apps from the company inquestion (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, etc)
