extra charges on bill help

Hi am new to Vodafone but got bill should be paying £25 per month and have had extra £4 charge added on rang customer services and they said it was for text information service what is this? as I dont want to be overcharged again he did say he would knock it off this time but didnt seem able to explain as nobody else has used my phone I am curious to know what it is. If you download a free app is this really free and when you do it sometimes says new upgrade available could it have something to do with this?

That'll probably be for using stuff in the SIM Toolkit app.

Apps from the Market don't come up on the bill unless you use some of your data allowance to download them.

Hi ghorton,

Text information services are when you receive text messages to your phone that give information such as weather updates, travel information, and sports scores. These are usually premium rate alerts that you pay to receive.

If you do not want to receive these alerts simply reply to the text messages with the word STOP to unsubscribe :0

Re: extra charges on bill help

I am on a £15.50 pay monthly direct debit. My latest bill had an extra £13+ added , for what I do not know.

I have 100 mins talk time and have only used 31  mins, a few of my 500 texts .

I was not told of any extra charges and do not understand where they come from. I took this plan because I am on the pension and thought it was a good deal, but now I am thinking, it is not.

Dear Kate

If this is your first bill, you would be been charged pro rata for the first month to your billing date, plus one months line rental in advance. Your next months charges will be for the normal monthly amount.

The following link from the Help Centre will explain how your first bill is calculated, there is even a video grom Gerry explaining your bill.

Vodafone Support - First Bill

If you have set up your online account, you will be able to keep check of your charges and know exactly what you are being charged.

Re: extra charges on bill help

It certainly was not my first bill as the last bill had charges added as well. I do no know what these charges are for

I have never used my full 100 minutes or my 500 text. no web either.

£13+ is a lot to pay for mystery goods

Re: extra charges on bill help

This is not my first bill, my last bill had extra charges of £9+.

I only used a little of my 100 minutes and had used ss few of my 500 texts, so I still do know what the extra charges are for.

I have only had this contract for a short time, but wish I had the money to cancel all together. I can not afford these bills.

Re: extra charges on bill help

Hi kate1947

Thank you for your post and a very warm welcome from myself and the team. :smileyhappy:

I understand it can be frustrating not knowing what charges you are paying and why so setting up 'My Account' is a fantastic way to check these and keep up to date with your monthly payments.

As this is an account specific query please complete and reply to the email I have sent to the address that you registered with on here, once I have this back I would be happy to take a look for you and explain what you are paying for.

Many Thanks

Re: extra charges on bill help

I can't gain accesses To my online account to view the breakdown of my bill but on my Vodafone app it says my phone bill £113 when it's normally around £63 I can't work out why it's so High. I have an iPhone which has free call and txt and 2gb of data allowance which I hardley use any of but I can't see my bill to find out why iv been charged so much and I can't afford to pay a bill that high for one phone.
