Hi there and welcome to the forum
Have you tried your SIM card in another phone just to make sure it is a working SIM card? Also have you tried another SIM card in your HTC?
I would consider popping into your local Vodafone Store and getting a new SIM card just to completely narrow down the problem.
Outta curiosity, has your phone previously worked with a VF SIM?

Hi RahulSaxena,
It sounds to me like a problem with the actual phone as your SIM is working in another phone.
If you're within the first 7 days of your purchase I'd recommend returning it for a replacement - if you're outside that period it would need to be repaired.
If you got it from Vodafone you can take a look at our phone repairs thread for more info
