You can use WiFi with no additional cost.
My daughter is on PAYG with no Data allowance and uses the local McDonalds when out with her friends for Facebook updates.
TSD.
At the risk of sounding like an amateur, i am going to mention this anyway just to be sure - is it the same with pay monthly?
Thanx for ur help TSD x

I am also using wifi with the local network and I am being billed for small amounts around midnight every night. This has led to over £52 of data charges in the last quarter at £0.81 a time. Ouch!
When i first received the phone i went abroad and raomed, so i understand the reason there, but I seem to be being billed by using my own home wifi connection.
Separately there is no option available to turn data off (except home or BT internet wifi) entirely to avoid this. The closest option under the online settings seems to be to cap non-UK UK data to £38. Is this really the only option?
Please help as I couldn't suffer another month of these charges.

Hi Surfbummer,
Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.
When it comes to these charges, it is normally caused by applications updating behind in the background or the auto sync function being selected.
Firstly can you confirm exactly what handset that you are using so that we can advise you further if there is any settings that we can change to stop the phone from connecting in the back ground.
The charges themselves are not for the WIFI connection and although you may be still connected to your WIFI at night, some handsets will disconnect the WIFI when the phone is in sleep mode which is why these charges can appear.
If we are unable to stop the charges, the other alternative would be to look at a data bundle being added onto your account as we can add 500MB onto your account for £5 per month which would also then allow you to use the internet on your phone whilst you are out and about.
