I re-registered with this new forum as I could not get access using my old user name and password. I wonder if others are having the same trouble which has caused the lack of posts.

The Nexus S is on my list for Santa

Shame Vodafone messed up the Nexus One they could have been for far ahead of the field

Merry Christmas to all and hope 2011 is good to you :smileyhappy:

Still lurking :smileywink:

No real news recently - everyone waiting for Gingerbread.

Lots of cutom ROMs now being created/distributed but I'm waiting for the official OTA, which, according to the growing rumours (including the official Google Nexus twitter account) will be sent "in the next few weeks"

So likely no GB for Xmas, but shortly afterwards.

In the meantime (if you are on Froyo) - install the Gingerbread keyboard, it is stunning compared to the stock 2.2 (and less) keyboard. No rooting required - Get it here; http://goo.gl/Yji1P

Once installed, long-press in any text field to get the option to use it. And settings can be changed in 'Settings>Language & keyboard"

I'm here, the forum software annoys me though so it's not as often as before.

I've looked at GB, superfically it seems to be 2.2 with a dark UI. Waiting for the OTA (which I expect till be next year) as I can't be doing with wiping the phone.

The keyboard is definately worth having though, it's a huge improvement

Will try the keyboard - thanks for the tip (and david)

Agree that the forum is shockingly bad... it kinda killed the community.

"does anybody have any news on Gingerbreads arrival"

According to the Google Nexus Twitter Gingerbread will be out in the next few weeks, in the real world.

Hence Vodafone will drag their feet for some "testing"  and let us customers have it in February or March if we are lucky

Best regards

Long press on a text input box and select input method, change your keyboard to the new one (make sure you've enabled it in the settings first).

That is assuming you just used an installable version, and haven't used root access to overwrite the stock keyboard completely like me

Re: whats happened to rusty and all the regular posters?

No ETA at all, although looking on the Nexus S subforum on XDA Devs, I get the feeling they rushed it to get it out for xmas, and it needs more work.

Re: whats happened to rusty and all the regular posters?

Hi Rusty

Please note the Nexus S is on 3.2.1 out of the box currently.

I have limited access to a test model thanks to having to give a training demo to a CPWH team.

Very fast and smooth WiFi and G3 connections better than the Nexus One, hope the update when it comes does the same for the Nexus One.

All the best

MM

Re: whats happened to rusty and all the regular posters?

It's 2.3 (GRH55) out of the box but gets an OTA to 2.3.1 (GRH78) pretty much straight away.

Apparently staff are opening them and applying the updates before selling so it must be to sort something big.

Hey mm,

I thought you'd done a deal to get the Nexus S from CPWH? Is that not right?

Re: whats happened to rusty and all the regular posters?

Sorry Yellow

The manager I was talking moved to another store before I could get the mobile :smileysad:  There was a 2 week delay is supply

Hence had to give a demo to their team to get the telephone for a week at the moment

Rusty, nobody mentioned to me the initial update out of the box

All the best
