I am having a problem where I can hear the person on the other end of the call, but they cannot hear me. The microphone sensitivity seems to be too low.If I switch to speaker, the problem goes away. But that's not a practical solution in a busy office!
If I go into the engineering menu and switch "Dual Mic" OFF, it seems to improve the issue (though still not as well as switching to speaker), unfortunately the next time the phone is restarted, Dual Mic is reset back to ON.
This makes me think the problem is NOT a hardware issue, rather a firmware/software issue. Can anything be done about this?

I have exactly the same problem - people can barely hear me until I put phone on "speaker" - they can then hear me fine. I have seen several internet posts where people are complaining of the same problem. Do you have a fix for this?

Did this happen from the point you got the handset, or did it start happening after a while? Similarly, has the volume been constant or is it getting worse over time?
With regards to the basic steps for resolving this, so we know where we are with this, have you tried a hard reset of the device?
- Switch the handset on
- Whilst powered up, remove the SIM card and battery
- Put the battery back in and switch on
- Wait a couple of minutes, then remove the battery again
- Replace the SIM and battery and switch back on
If this didn't help, can you check that there is no update for the firmware available, and confirm the version you are running for me?
Finally for now, have you tried backing up the device and restoring factory settings?

I too have this problem
I believe it has always been here, but I could not be ceratin (don't use the phone much for calls)
However a couple of people have complained in the last few weeks, so may be related to the most recent update
I did the upgrade prompted to me wirlessly a few weeks ago. my Build number ends in B892
I have tried a factory reset. That does not change anything
Promptyed by other forums I tried using speaker mode during calls, and that seems to help.

This is my 3rd G300 phone since 24th June and this one has the mic issue. Again i turned off the Dual Mic and it seems to improve volume but keeps resetting to 'on' when i switch the phone off and on again so is not a solution. Seems to be another common fault with these phones. Looks like it may have to go back and i'll switch to a different maunfacturer.....had enough of Hauwei.

This issue had occurred from the point I got the handset. The volume had been constantly too low. I tried a hard reset at the time (following the steps listed), it didnt make a difference.
Yesterday, I checked for firmware updates. I was on B885 (normal vodafone version). I did an over-the-air update to B892 (normal vodafone version). This *did* seem to make a difference. I am now at least audible (even with DualMic ON). Despite that, the mic volume level is still lower than the speaker-mode volume level, so I think it could be improved with a simple firmware/software update: just need to set a higher "mic-sensitivity" level in non-speaker-mode.

Same problem with the mic here. After waiting 5 days for the phone to be unlocked I finally got to use my phone and the first call I made my wife complained she could not hear me. Come on vodafone, not only it has a low ring tone volume, but the mic volume is naff too. Have I bought a turkey of a phone?

I have the same problem too. The phone has always had this issue and it has run all the updates, but nothing seems to make any difference except turning on the speakerphone, in which case the other end can hear me perfectly.

Thanks for sharing. Have you already had your handset sent in for a warranty repair at all? As this isn't happening with every device, we'll need to treat it as an individual issue. Can you also confirm the software version that shows in your Settings menu?

Using the speakerphone, or turning Dual Mic off, might be workarounds, but they have their limitations. Do you have access to a big Tesco store with a specialist electronics sales desk to whom you could demonstrate the problem?

Just out of interest reading about this problem, there is mention of turning DUAL MIC on or off

Can somebody tell me where to find this setting? I've looked everywhere on my G300 still on GB 2.03. and cant find it, and dont even know what dual mic is.

Having checked on the Huawei website, you'll need to access the engineer menu by dialling * # * # 2846579 # * # *. The you need to go to 'Project Menu' -> 'Background setting' -> 'Dual Mic Setting' and turn it off (it will be "on" as default). Does that help improve it for you?
